When Michael Sam the gay player from Missouri is not drafted what will the excuses be?

Don't really have one, I've sort of followed the sport closely throughout my life but without rooting interest. No team in Toronto during my childhood of course, and I never picked up the Patriots when I was living in Boston or the Jets or Giants now. Although you can try and sell me on being a Jets fan I guess! I really don't think I want to join my friends that are Giants fans though

Because that's how it will be presented. You can't be that oblivious to how the media works. If he didn't confirm it to them when they asked, they'd run it anyways and present it like he's hiding it.

I know he has stated that he 'came out' because it would anyway before the draft and he wanted it to come from him and not the media. Well ,the media ran with it and he followed.....a mistake by him.
