They need wholesale changes along the whole O line, starting at the coach. They got Yankey and Richardson in reserve yet. I still think a move to guard for Kalil. Get a good center and a LT (maybe in free agency) and the O might have a chance.

Bridgewater is struggling for the same reason Ponder struggled... More worried about losing their head than getting the ball on target. They need to fix the line. I think Zim knows it, and I think that will be job 1 next year.

You want to replace Greenway? He's coming off an injury from last season (broken hand), and also missed games this year due to broken ribs and broken hand.... he's led the team in tackles the past 6 seasons, and while he won't this year, he isn't easily replaceable.

Greenway has played like crap 2 years straight now and he is 31 years old. He's done.

LB's are supposed to make tackles. Greenway doesn't make plays that an average NFL LB wouldn't. In fact the last couple years he misses more tackles than the average LB would by taking horrific angles to the ball and not having enough speed left to make up for it.

Just to give you an example: Last year Greenway graded out as the 2nd worst starting 4-3 LB in the league according to profootball focus (a site that has people watch each play and hand out grades).

It's time to move on. Actually the time to move on was 2.5 years ago but Spielman doesn't know when to say when. He has a bad habit of overpaying for vets clearly well past their prime.

Last year?

Last year was one of the best years of his career. 3 sacks, 2nd highest single season total of his career, 3 picks highest total of his career for a single season, 134 combined tackles beating the next highest player on the team (Drunkard Henderson) by 22. And yes, until as of right now, he has led this team in tackles every year. And the year isnt over yet. Hes 3rd on the team so far this year, but he also missed 2 games was it? Which was also the first time in his career he has missed a start.

PF-R rated him the 7th best linebacker in the league last year. His highest career ranking in that category.

Chad Greenway NFL Football Statistics | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Greenway is a soldier that does his job. He doesnt get a lot of press, because he doesnt make a big deal out of everything, dancing and being stupid. He does his business, and goes home.

Just a little food for thought...

"Chad Greenway entered 2014 having led the Vikings in tackles for six consecutive seasons, tying a franchise record held by Scott Studwell. Three games into the season, though, Anthony Barr had 32 tackles to Greenway’s 25 and the veteran linebacker then missed the next three games. Through the first six weeks, Barr had 58 tackles to Greenway’s 25. Since returning from injury in Week 7, Greenway has gone on a tear, tallying 68 tackles (he now has 93 for the season) and moving to within six of Barr’s total (99). It’s not as if Barr’s production has fallen off, either. In the last six games, Barr has totaled 41 tackles, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 2.0 sacks."

So Percy Harvin dares to come back to Minnesota this weekend?

Might be a convenient time for one of his little "headaches".

1) They didn't rate him the 7th best LB. The AV metric they use isn't a rank but rather a score. Last year was his worst AV....not his best. The higher number the better.

2) Pro football reference AV stat is a complete piece of junk. It's just a stat accumulator and then factors in how good of a defense the player plays on. It tells you virtually nothing about the football player.

Here's a review of Greenway's last two seasons by people who looked at the tape and graded him on his performance rather than just looking at the stats he accumulated:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/02/27/jvm-minnesota-vikings/

5. Chad Greenway, Minnesota Vikings
2012 Cap Hit: $7.7m
2012 Performance Based Value: $2.0m
Value Differential: -$5.7m
A mediocre season isn’t going to cut it when you’re one of the highest paid linebackers in the league. Greenway was the second-highest paid 4-3 outside linebacker this season, yet ended up with the 21st-best grade, at -1.4. For the second year in a row he led all linebackers in yards allowed in coverage, and he had a poor year as a tackler. Greenway’s 9.6 Tackling Efficiency was 18th among outside linebackers, and his second-lowest mark in the past five seasons. Greenway has produced in the past with total grade of +28.9 from 2008-2010, but he has had negative grades the past two seasons. He’ll need to get back to his old form to earn his $8m+ cap hit the next three seasons.

2. Chad Greenway – Outside Linebacker
It has been quite a precipitous fall for Chad Greenway. In 2008 he was PFF’s 4th best 4-3 OLB and showed talent in all phases of the game; pass coverage, run stopping, and even rushing the passer. He has gradually been slipping in all areas. Over the last 3 years no linebacker has allowed more yards in coverage. His run grade was also a career worst -11.0 in 2013 and overall he ranked 34th out of 35 OLBs. Greenway could be a cap casualty for the young and rebuilding Vikings.
2013 Cap Hit: $8.7m
2013 Jahnke Value Model: $825k
Value Differential: -$7.88m

The leadership and the image he brings as a role model more than make up for anything they are paying him. Not to mention that he is still the 2nd best LB on this team, and may even pass Barr in tackles before the year is out.

Kinda like they SHOULD have done with Winfield a couple of years ago.

Meant to mention a few weeks ago during the Packers game but this week was another big step in showing Charles Johnson could be a real weapon for us in the coming years. He just needs to get more consistent catching the ball. The dude is open on the regular.

As much as Cordarrelle pisses me(and probably most Vikings fans) off at his inability to get involved, Johnson is doing it a lot and Teddy really likes him.

Also think Teddy is starting to look better and better. Still needs to get consistent with his deep ball but I like the progression.

Not gonna get much for a 30 year old running back...

Not to mention his price tag. AD is scheduled to make 15 mil next year. Thats TWICE the next highest paid guy (McCoy from Philly) and 2.5 times the 3rd highest (the RB in Seattle, forget his name at 6 mil).

No one is going to trade for that. Aint gonna happen.

What will most likely happen is the Vikings will ask AP to renegotiate his deal. AD will refuse. The Vikings will have no choice but to waive him, and AD will have a star on his helmet next year and probably making about 7 mil. You heard it here first...

I don't see him playing anywhere else.

One thing is certain, if AP forces his way out after the shit show we've put up, let alone to go join Dallas, he'd instantly become one of my most hated athletes of all time, when he was once among my favorites.

I understand the whole Peterson-Dallas connection but with the leagues best back(Murray) already there I don't think Dallas will be his landing spot

You know the shame of this whole season, we are 6-7 without our best player playing a single down. One would have to think that with a healthy AP we could be in serious contention for the playoffs:gaah:

Kind of lame that Percy happened to have his best game of the season against us yesterday.

But then, in classic Harvin fashion, what did he do? He got hurt. Go figure.
