I'd love to be there, but on humid days like this, it's nearly as good to be watching on tv. I live in dry heat, so that humidity is oppressive to me.

I refuse to talk about tennis in any of grosseIDIOT's threads.

Anyway, Sloane just found out that Serena is much more difficult to beat when she's healthy.

Bravo to Serena on an excellent match. She won't be able to get revenge on Kerber, though, because Kerber choked away her R16 match. lol.

Just got in but the humidity today was absolutely ridiculous. I freaking love it there though.

So my mind is made on my schedule for tomorrow.

1) Watch all of Bags/Waws

2) Walk around the grounds for a little bit

3) Watch a set or two of Hewitt and walk around some more lol

4) Go back to Armstrong for Haas/Youzhny

5) Stay there for some Radwanska/Makarova

6) Walk around some more and hopefully catch a doubles match

So 3-6 never happened today lol.

Pretty much I watched all of Waws/Bags. A lot of people left after the first 2 sets but I told myself I'll stay in the 3rd unless Waws went up a break which never happened and we had a damn good final 3rd and 4th set. After that I walked around the grounds, got food, and etc for the next hour or so. I was going to go see Hewitt but once I saw that he went up 2 sets to 0 I had a change of heart but what I ended up doing instead was catch the final 2 sets of Istomin/Seppi once I saw that Seppi took the 3rd set. I was right there in the 2nd row for that one on court 17. BTW after the match when I was watching Serena/Sloane on a big screen just outside of court 17, Istomin just walked through the grounds with I assume his coach like he was a regular person. So after that I just watched Serena/Sloane on the big screen for a little bit before going back into Armstrong to catch the end of the Kerber match. My original plans was to see the Youzhny/Haas match but due to the late end of the Kerber match, I don't think that match would've started until 6 or so and I knew it was going to be a 4 set or 5 set match (currently in the 4th) so I decided to leave at the end of the Kerber match at about 6 PM. I spent 7 hours there and enjoyed every minute of it.

Only small complaint is that I needed more leg room in my seat at Armstrong.

It is really fun walking around on the grounds and walking by the smaller courts and just to stop and check out action for a few minutes and keep it moving.

I will be back next year

Federer vs Nadal should be a good match.

Not one competitve singles match on Ashe today.

BTW since when are men doubles best of 3? I thought they were best of 5 at GS events?

Funny thing in Newport. Todd Martin walked the length of the grounds through the center of the crowd carrying a couple boxs of some sort that he was fumbling around. Not only didnt anyone even say boo to him, no one even offered to help him carry any of the crap.

You can see a lot of the lesser known players watching the matches if you really pay attention. Surprised no one noticed Istomen though. That dude really sticks out in a crowd.

Court 17 is pretty cool. Glad they had a decent match there for you.

some people noticed him once he walked by them. Speaking about that match, seppi really laid an egg in the final set after coming back to tie it after dropping the first 2 sets

Ashe blows. They need to tone down the speaker volume too. No one cares what that ass clown has to say as it is. You can hear that thing all over the grounds and it is irritating as hell when you are trying to watch another match.

Anyway, I cant remember the last time they were best of 5. Heck at one point they were playing super tie breaks instead of a third set. That really sucked.

sounds like you had a great time, bks. awesome.

i really echo all of the negative things people have to say about ashe stadium. it's a monstrosity, and matches have been lacklustre there for the past few years, especially at night. i think a lot of it has to do with the tv rights. it was better when usa had wall to wall coverage, imo. the us open is the ONLY tournament i'd say that about, though.

kohl plays rafa tomorrow, and i just don't see him making a dent in rafa's game. i'm a fed fan to the core, and generally don't care for rafa's game, but his form is frightening right now.

It actually really sucks for the fans. The only matches that really deserved Ashe today was Serena/Sloane and Jankovic/Na (based on the rankings). I wish the top tournaments valued best matches instead of the top players when it comes to playing on the main court from the 3rd round on. Murray and Djoker shouldn't have been on Ashe today. They had better matches they could've went to and yesterday Isner/Kol should've been on Ashe instead of Rafa.

Thankfully ESPN is taking over the tennis GS world as they have the best coverage IMO. In 2015 they will have full coverage of the US Open which means they will have complete rights to 3 of the 4 GS.

The best time to go to Ashe is in the 2nd week of tourney as better match ups begin to shape up but I'll never waste my money on Ashe during the first week of the tourney because the quality of the matches are very low.

Barring some kind of miracle, looks like a very real chance of a rainout for the the majority of today's play.

Have to fill up this wonderful day off with something else now. Oh well.

Querrey down 2 sets to 0 and is entering a 3rd set tiebreak. This guy is trash

I just discovered this thread.

He's not good from the baseline IMO.

Isner is talking big right now to Brad Gilbert. Just said he will get his revenge after losing to Kohlsch reiber last year here in the 3rd round lol.

BTW last year those 2 played a thrilling 5 set match that finish at 2:26 AM Monday Morning.

Yeah I heard that.

Good ladies matches taking place right now.

Azarenka and Cornet in a first set tiebreak while Mchale and Ivanovic are tied 3-3 in the final set.

Azarenka could not keep the ball in play late in the 1st set.
