The other factor is that Wawrinka is the only player with a one handed backhand that has really been able to to challenge Djokovic in the past decade or so.

Other than Fed at 2019 Wimbledon, and Tsitsipas in the two major finals he faced Djokovic.

And Thiem the two years he beat him at the French Open.

The difference being that the latter players hit the ball hard.

Musetti doesn't. He is like Gasquet.

pulling for Musetti, both because he's the underdog, but also because it would be cool to see two Italians in the finals

Musetti just doesn’t have enough game to beat Djokovic and at this stage he doesn’t have enough experience to even play at his best vs Djokovic who is very much at home on Center Court.

I like Djoker’s chances in straight sets but if it goes the distance I think Alcaraz will win. Djoker needs to win the first set. Alcaraz tends to slack a little in his first sets. It should be a good final. The blockbuster everyone wanted to see that is.

Lieutenant Musetti couldn’t get it done. Let’s see if Colonel Alcaraz can get it done!

Djokovic has the record for most wins when losing the first set. He's 49 - 37 when losing the first set.

He is also 5 - 2 in the 5th set of GS Finals. I'll pick him to win if it goes to a 5th set.

Other than that, I don't know what will happen. But I think it's best to beat Djokovic in 3 or 4 sets. He seems to almost always play well in the 5th set.

He is 38-10 all time in matches that go 5 sets.

I also hate the term "everyone wants to see this". I would have been fine with Medvedev vs. Djokovic. Reason being that if he could have beaten both Sinner and Alcaraz, then he's playing very well. So why not beat Djokovic too?

Medvedev did improve on grass this year, so that is good to see. He made the match interesting, especially the first set. I can't recall the last grass court match I saw that had 4 breaks of serve in the first set.

Musetti hits the ball too high. That's not good on grass.

Still, I hope he continues to play well in the future.

Was rooting for Paolini and she turned the match around from a straight sets drubbing to a three set thriller. Good match!

I don’t t like his loopy backswing! That one handed backhand is a liability for him against a wall like Nole who is comfortable off of both wings.
This dude takes too much time setting up his ball strike and ole Nole has enough time to set himself in the right body position for the next shot I felt. Alcaraz should rob the time away from Djoker like Fed did when he was in his prime.

Medevedev is another character who is very difficult to like because of his on court demeanor like Djokovic. He almost got defaulted from the match because of that double bounce incident. Anyone who has ever played tennis knows if they get the ball in the first bounce or not! He not only pretended that he didn’t know he was verbally expressing his displeasure for that point not going his way. That is very unsportsmanlike.

Alcaraz should hug the baseline and take the ball early like Fed and use his forehand to establish an early dominance. It’s hard to beat Djokovic mentally as he is one of the toughest mental player out there but his body is old now and he is coming back from surgery, so these two factors will eat away at his mental stature if Alcaraz is able to frustrate him enough. The crowd won’t certainly be in Nole’s favor so that may make things complicated as well.

This Djoker was definitely not the Djoker of the old, not sure if we will ever see him like that again. This loss will have some big mental blow for Novak. Djoker will make a couple of last slam efforts at the USO and the AO but I think he should retire after the AO if his body is not healed properly.

Yes, that backswing takes too much time. Not good on grass.

Do we know what exactly he said?

Does the replay check for double bounce, or in/out only?

Good match for 2 ladies noone expected to see. Krejokiva did win a major but has not played much this year.

Mens has all the makings of a classic. GOAT against one of the young champions and possible future great.

The 3rd set of the Ladies Finals was good.
