49ers are trying to trade off Wilhoite for a 6th or 7th round pick.

we are also looking at Spiller, Mathews, Ginn, Dockett, and Helu.

Also 49ers might go FA way to get a WR.

I actually wanted to draft Spiller when he was coming out of college. He made 5.9 million last season and he is coming off an injury. Gore is asking for 4 million on a 1 year deal. I think we should say bye to Gore and bring in Spiller for 4 million a season. Also Cards offered Dockett 2.5 million but it could be up to 4 million with incentives. Let's say 49ers already know if Justin is coming back or not. If Smith does retire that saves the team 4 million which we could use to sign Dockett. Just give him 4 million without having to hit his incentives.
Yes Hyde and Spiller does intrigue me. Plus Hunter.

The Bears are looking to trade Marshall and want a mid round pick for him. Maybe we could work on something like Wilhoite, 4th for Marshall, 6th or 7th. Marshall still has 3 years left and he is gonna make 9.5, 9.9 and 10.3 million the next 3 years which I think is reasonable for a player like him. We should cut Stevie and make this trade now!

Yes, a LOT of sentiment on Gore from we 49er fans. :-) From what we've been reading for years, isn't just the on field play.

What makes this situation a little "dicey" is not knowing Hunter's health? We seem to read he's fine now, but until he hits the field, we don't REALLY know? So that leaves Hyde who can get hurt at any time.

As hard as it is to let Gore walk, have to say if push comes to shove, this writer makes sense. We shouldn't "low ball" him either, that just ruins the past history with Gore.

Signing players like Marshall is for teams who are serious SB contenders NOW, so IMO he isn't someone we want. Adding another vet is ok should Stevie be cut, but still not at Marshall's age and cap cost.

The San Francisco 49ers announced they have signed WR Jerome Simpson to a two-year deal.

Simpson (6-2, 190) was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (46th overall selection) of the 2008 NFL Draft. He has played in 57 games (36 starts) and has tallied 145 receptions for 2,004 yards and eight touchdowns.

I hope he was really cheap cuz im not a fan of this move.

depends on what you consider cheap?

this kind of move for a "2nd tier" FA WR makes sense. He has experience and just can't see his cost approaching a 'Brandon Marshall' cap cost? Guessing it is near the $3M/year range?

this is the typical value signing Baalke makes, every season.

This must assure Crabtree's exit?

I wouldn't mind this trade. I would take Marshall. He adds a big time weapon for us. Problem would be his salary. I agree Cut Stevie now and make it happen.

I agree with that statement. Last year was that CB from Min who didn't play because of injury. A year ago or 2 was Safety Dial. He makes one of these every year almost.

Harvin strikes me as a potential value pick. He's going to have to sign a 1-2 year deal for cheap. Sounds like a Baalke type move to me. Then again, perhaps the Chiefs or Panthers go after him.

I agree and he will especially would want to have good games against seattle. Wouldn't shock me if Seattle went after him again. Seattle has no WRs.

It appears as if he is going to get a lot of interest. The pats are looking into him. That would be a good spot for him.

Report: 49ers 'very interested' in WR Torrey Smith | CSN Bay Area

From CSN Bay Area, 49ers interested in Torrey Smith. I don't really remember this guy. I read he is just 26 years old. If he is really good, why would Baltimore being willing to let him walk?

He is a good WR but I wouldn't say really good. Ravens offered him a 5 year deal worth 35 million. So if 49ers wanted him they would prolly have to pay 8-9 million a year which sounds high to me for him.

Randall Cobb and the #Packers have reached a 4-year deal worth $40M, source said (as @AdamSchefter said 1st). Has $17M guaranteed

Cobb could've got 12 million a year else where but I guess he wanted to stay with the Packers.

Doesn't look like he is worth that kind of money for the 49ers.
