I think Kromer talking to the media the way he did sealed Trestman’s fate. To me, that shows a complete disregard for the HC’s authority, and I think the players recognized that too.

I thought he was a great hire at the time. Now... I think he is an even better firing. He'll go down in history with Tim Floyd, Terry Bevington, and that Alpo guy as the Mt Rushmore of bad coaches in Chicago.

I liked the notion of Harbaugh coming to Chicago, but I never honestly thought it would happen. The money that Michigan will pay him is certain awesome (a dollar amount the McCaskeys would never go near), but there is also the connection the Harbaugh family has with Michigan to take into consideration.

I just saw a story stating that Aaron Kromer was fired. Gotta wonder why Kromer was mentioned independent of everyone else on the staff…. and why hasn’t there been a similar announcement for any other coaches?

Kroemer turned coat on his players pseudo-publicly. That kicked him immediately.

I had concerns he was gonna be the scapegoat for Trestman for this year anyway. Guy can coach, but he made a serious misstep (and compounded it by admitting it).

Yeah, but there really is no offseason for college coaches with all the recruiting they are forced to do to keep their jobs. I dont think Jim is one to take much time off of football anyway, but you are probably adding quite a few real work days and tons more travel.

I have checked, no other names yet. For a while we saw that the bear defense went from bottom of the pack to mid pack a few games ago.

First firing was 8 am, Kromer about 1130, maybe it looks like the people left in the room are actually evaluating what they have left.

All honesty, it should have been straight across the board with all assistants. Maybe our Czar made decisions earlier last week or weeks ago and wants to actually talk to Mel and some position coaches before deciding on firing them.
