People bashing Lebron because they don't understand anything about how free agency works and nuances of leverage. Then the thread about Lebron gets turned into a thread about Kobe. Can the start of the season get here already? This FA period is making people dumber by the second.

pass to open shooter = defer to other players, scared of taking game winning shot

No, it is called making the correct basketball play.

I can assure you that with all things being equal any coach is going to take the guy willing to make the unselfish play over the guy who forces the contested shot with 3 defenders draped on him.

Of all the reasons to hate on LeBron, this is one thing he has right.

Interesting, considering the fact that he is one of the few superstars in NBA history willing to pass to an open shooter instead of forcing a contested shot himself when the game is on the line. This comment is nothing but drivel. You may not like how LeBron views free agency or how he speaks to the media, but he is the ultimate team player when he is on the court.

He isn't and was never a great team player. Great players make those that play with him better. (Magic, Bird, Duncan) He passes because he is afraid to take the shot and the blame for losing when the game is on the line.

The ultimate carpetbagger... yes. The unltimate team player?! Not even close.

He's LBNique... a guy who thinks his stats are what make him good. Hogwash.

Yes and no. There are times when the better play is the superstar taking the shot, even if it's over a double team. If it's a player in a spot where he's not likely to hit the shot or the play that was drawn up, breaks down, then it's up to the superstar to make the play.

One of the greatest shots in Lakers history (Magic's "junior, junior skyhook") was drawn up to go to Kareem. The Celtics covered the play, so Magic made his own play and he hit the shot over McHale and Parrish.

Also, Magic was every bit the team player that Lebron is and he was as likely to take the shot as he was to pass it and that was with better options than Lebron has had many times.

That's because Jim"I'mdonetalkingaboutKobe"Doors hadn't reached his daily quota of Kobe posts yet.

I can assure you that a coach wants a guy that is fearless and demands the ball in close situations. What he does with the ball in such situation is what makes the difference between him being good and being great.

Magic and Bird would always make the right play... but they wanted the ball with the game on the line. Lebron doesn't want anything to do with the ball and passes it so HE can't be blamed if things go wrong.

He had a team in Cleveland that had the best record in the NBA.. but he tossed them under the bus when HE failed to lead them to a title. Leading!! That's his job. He isn't anything close to being a leader.

That's not how great players treat their teammates

A great example of a GREAT player making the right decision. Bird and Magic were the Ultimate example of a player that always thought of what was best for the TEAM. The word "selfish" could never be applied to them.

They took the shot or made the pass and ALWAYS accepted responsibility for the result.:10:

Don't forget that Kobe essentially chased Shaq out of town and at least "encouraged" the draft day deal that landed him in LA to begin with.

Kobe gets credit for sticking with 1 team his entire career, but lets be real people. It is the freaking Lakers. This is not a level playing field. If Kobe were drafted by his home town 76ers, I guarantee he would not still be playing there.

Revisionist history? You forgot how Shaq called out Jerry to pay him?

Buss didn't appreciate that and opted for the business decision of keeping the younger super-star.

Threatening to leave is looking over his options. Btw...your crippled whiney bitch will make more than Lebron, which shows he is a selfish and money hungry. I would take Lebron over him anyday, bc he actually gives a shit about his teammates. And that is something nobody will ever take away.

If he gave a shit, he'd hurry up and make a decision so Riles could get some role players. By the time he makes a decision all the decent to good role players will be signed.

First of all, the Lakers offered Kobe that much, he didn't ask for it. Second, he asked them if they could still build a contender while paying him that much and they said yes. Third, Kobe has stayed with the Lakers for his entire career and the Lakers are paying him that much for the money he has made them and the fact that he stayed.

If Lebron gives a shit about his teammates, why did he leave his teammates in Cleveland? Why is he leaving his current teammates hanging and threatening to ditch them and run off to greener pastures?

Also, he has opted out of his contract and has his agent fielding offers from several teams. So yes, your whiney bitch is threatening to leave.

Bottom line, your whiney bitch is no better or more innocent than the Lakers whiney bitch. The only difference is, you can't see that with your whiney bitches nutsack covering your eyes.

You must not understand free agency, Cleveland's FO, and pretty much everything else. Most of the questions are self-explanatory. Lebron will always be 10x the person Kobe is and a couple more titles and 10x the player. GL losing with that greedy punk.

Still though, I think it is apples and oranges comparing Kobe's decisions to LeBrons and I guess that was my point. I think if you put Kobe in LeBron's shoes, he likely would have left Cleveland at some point too. I don't think he would leave this Miami team though.

Really? Follow along on Twitter, James leaving is picking up steam.

So other great players pass and they are making the right play, but he passes and he is scared and not making the right play. You sound like you have never seen a bball game in your life and you are a little butthurt as well

You missed the 2nd half of the 2012-2013 season? Kobe averaged almost 8apg as the Lakers rallied from a horrible start and made the playoffs.

Play the game right? Then maybe you should look at the success the Spurs have had.

That's how the game is supposed to be played. Unselfish TEAM ball. But that's not what the average fan wants to see.
