Well, it’s the final game of the 2024-25 season and one of the major storylines is one where people are waiting to see if the Chiefs can capture an historic three-peat against Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Key takeaways

Super Bowl LIX will feature the Kansas City Chiefs aiming for their third consecutive championship, a historic feat in NFL history. The matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles is highly anticipated, with both teams showcasing impressive playoff performances leading up to the game. Although some fans may be eager to see if Patrick Mahomes can solidify his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks by leading the Chiefs to victory once again, throughout NFL nation there’s an underlying current pitting fatigue against history running through this event. In America, people love the underdog, that is, until they become consistent winners. At that point, historical greatness becomes the enemy as new love affairs begin with the latest challenger trying to dethrone the now-jilted former new kid on the block. This love affair for the underdog expresses Schadenfreude and allows fans to displace legacy winners. In the two weeks leading up to this game “Tired of the Chiefs/Patrick Mahomes” has been the general theme, an imbalance rooted deeply in the American psyche and once again playing itself out in this ultimate game. Let's take a look at the particulars:

Here's what they're saying...

OK, they've had their say and there's not going to be a predictive game scenario from me on this one so, you already know the routine…

1. Who wins this game?

2. Final score?

3. Player(s) of the game?

4. Storyline Memorial moment, event, or play, that will have everyone talking on Monday morning and the rest of the week? Enjoy the Game, Everyone!!

Eagles have the better team on paper, but some sort of virus or flu is supposedly running rampant in their locker room. Hard to bet against Mahomes, Andy and the refs. My preseason prediction was Kansas City over San Francisco, so I guess I'll stick with my pick and go Taylor Swift.....I mean KC.

I was born in Philadelphia and am a Penn State fan. Mahomes is the new Brady, many are tired of seeing him win. Especially when a punted ball hits an opposing player in the foot on the 10 yard line and everyone forgets KC luck boxed into that win.

Best thing about this super bowl is that one of the teams will lose.

Hoping for a good game.

Cant root for the eagles even though I am good with saquon winning a ring.

Cant root for the Kansas City Swifties either because they need to be knocked down a peg too. Tired of them winning, especially since they ABSOLUTELY benefit from bullshit calls.

There are two competing points of view on this matchup with respect to Commanders nation. The first gives us the prospect of having lost to the eventual SB winner (Eagles) and the second not wanting that same team to win because they are division foes.
Then, there's the uniquely American sports mental disorder.. a combination of freudenschade (a negative reaction to others good fortune) and schadenfreude ( a positive reaction to others misfortune) in this instance let's call it Chiefs fatigue!

While, I'll never understand a rejection of accomplishment, consistency even greatness, there's an opportunity for many of you to witness something that few of us have because it's only been done one other time in NFL history, one team winning an NFL championship three years in a row! I'm for history, greatness, consistency, and accomplishment, therefore the Chiefs to win again!
