Agree, but that should have been a well known, thought through problem.
The problem with having no elite youth is not having the lower contracts that come along with them.
If a team wants to have 3 max or near max players, then the only way to fill the roster is how they have done it the last few years.

For the Melo scenario to work, obviously all 4 would have needed to be on the same mindset, which now appears not to be the case.

We're only in the 3 rd day and all Riley can do is reach out to the top FA and see what their mindset is.
I guarantee you he has a plan A, B, and C.
There are so many scenarios with sign and trades, etc...that we have no idea about.

It's fun to guess and speculate, but let's not forget, that really is all we are doing.

If Gasol goes to Ok City on the cheap, that would be my real 1st concern.
That's why I'm getting tired of "reportedly this ,reportedly that", I'm ready to see something happen.
As for Pau, him to OKC would be trouble. They would finally get a post presence, although their coach needs to get better.....Pau to the Spurs would be insane as he is PERFECT for that team. If a contending team gets him, it's gonna be trouble regardless

The Heat should be pursuing Gasol aggressively, it is the Heat's best hope of getting back on track.

Pat riley is sitting up his meetings this week in L.A... I think gasol is on his pat riley's mind this whole time. I'm sure he'll meet carmelo while melo.visits the lakers but gasol is his guy he is going after for.

Yeah he can. I'm almost certain a team or 3 would give him the max

Sure sure. Where is the evidence that any team is willing to pay Bosh $20, $22, $24, & $26 mil for him?

GMS ARE STUPID.

Meeks got 6 mill, Bradley got 8 mill, & Gortat got 12

Wasting $6-8 mil for 3 seasons is not even remotely close in comparison to wasting $20-26 mil for 4 seasons. Gortat @ $12 mil is a way better value than Bosh at $20-26. Gortat rebounds & defends better than Bosh.

$20-26 mil is 1/3 of a teams salary cap. While $6-8 mil is only about 1/9 or 1/10 of a teams salary cap. It easier to offset $6-8 mil with other players than it would be @ $20-26 mil.

Bosh isn't a center.

You want Bosh on the Bulls in a max deal? That's the context of this conversation. His salaries would start st around $20 mil & increase 5% in each season afterwards.

No I dont. didnt want him in 2010 either, just saying there are ramifications for what he is doing. His agent loses money, the CBA is all for players getting paid. It does not seem like the big 3 are really in sync since a deal is not done and other free agents are signing elsewhere.,

That's what I was thinking. I am sure plenty of teams would take Bosh at the 4 x $16-18 mil he is reportedly asking for. I just doubt the idea that he is a max contract player. Even with the glut of stupid GM(s) & owners in the league.

I think Bosh and Wade are.....Lebron I can't trust

I think it's about a 90% certainty all 3 are resigning in Miami. But you never know what another GM might be able to pull off to entice Lebron to change teams.

Actually, to be fair to Lebron, I think that he is playing this exactly the right way and handling it much better than he did in Cleveland.

To my knowledge, he has not agreed to meet with any other teams. At this time when he was in Cleveland, he was on a whirlwind tour being courted by teams that he knew had no chance of signing him.

I agree with Davis and think that it's probably 90% or better that he signs with the Heat. I think he is waiting on 2 things:

1.) I think he has laid out to Pat Riley, exactly what he needs to re-sign and he's not going to even meet with other teams unless and until it looks like Riley can't deliver.

2.) I think he wants to see where 'Melo ends up. I think he's intrigued at the possibility of the 2 of them playing together. If 'Melo signs with a team that can manage to fit both of them under the cap (without taking a huge paycut), then he will look at that. For example, if the Lakers could find a way to sign 'Melo, Lebron and Pau, to form a "big 4" with Kobe, I think Lebron would give that a good long look.

I don't believe that any team can give him a better (or even as good) chance to win than Miami, so I think he still ends up there and I doubt he even meets with any other teams.

What does trust have to do with any of this?

Wade opted out of $40 million dollars... the only way he recoupes that money is by staying in Miami who must have promised him > $40 million (stretched out) to opt out. Of course he stays... its the only thing that makes any sense for him.

Bosh has more options... but he also opted out of $40 million and has leverage to be able to stay in Miami with as much or little of a paycut as he wants. So its easy for him to stay, too... as long as LeBron comes back.

LeBron, on the other hand, has every option imaginable open to him.

To call out Wade and Bosh as being trustworthy and loyal, while labeling LeBron as the opposite is just not fair given the vast differences in each of their situations.

Problem is, teams are going to his agent in cleveland to make offers and lebron is not even present. He is so afraid of making a mistake again with the decision he is not even talking to teams directly. Whether that is because he is waiting for riley to get somebody first or not I dont know. He sure seems to be losing fans each day this drags on. Sounds pretty ignorant to me, Riley cant sign wade and bosh first and wont sign lebron without guarantees. Its like all of them have to sign at the same time because it seems like someone is gonna back out of this, and the smart money is on bosh taking 90 elsewhere.

But until there is a definite no from one of the three, they cant sign anybody. Its better to let bosh walk and offer that money to melo, trade bosh on the roster for melo on the roster.
