I can't say when the letter was written but there is no way I believe he wrote it himself.
As far as his decision, it should have been clear that when the Cavs made the trade with the Celtics that they already knew he was coming back. If he didn't come back the Cavs were pretty much screwed.
And as for the reason he's coming back. To save the children and bring a title to his cherished city... IMO it's too little too late.
Screwed because they lost Jarrett Jack?![]()
No... but they gave up a lot of their future options. By making that trade they were pretty much announcing to the world that it wasn't a chance they were looking at. They were just doing what they had to to free up the money they needed to bring him home.
Not true. They had to clear cap space to make it a possibility. Teams do it all the time.
Again, this does not prove a done deal.

Evening, folks...
So you're suggesting that if James didn't live his entire life in nearby Akron (as did his wife).... he still would have chosen to leave the Heat to go to a 33 win Cavs team? A team with a rookie head coach who's never held any title of coach, at any level, in the United States? It's real easy to say your 'homesick' when your home all of the sudden has positioned themselves to be a power team in the East for the rest of the prime of your career.
Love the avatar Epoch1.
Here's one writer that has an opinion that, if true, says a lot about just how James really thinks.
Wade will be just fine. Wait until you see his new deal before you judge.
James is an ego maniac. Good person and dude in terms of a family man who gives back, but really him and his buddies seem oblivious to the consequences his actions have to those around him.The point I took away was... it didn't have anything to do with money, it was just how silly he was to trust James to do the right thing.
Do you really think that Wade will get as much as he would have if he just stayed and to what was coming to him or signed an extension? I agree with the writer... James should have talked with Wade BEFORE Wade opted out... just to give him the best information he needed in order to make a decision regarding his own future
If you really respect and appreciate your teammates, it would have been the honorable thing to do. It wouldn't have changed James' path... but it might have made a big difference in Wade's future.
But honor and James are incompatible IMO.
Great opt out option for James at the end of next season. Same b.s. again next year.
