Thursday Night Games: Do You Like Them?

I only really like them when my team is playing. But I'm gonna watch no matter what anyways.

The opposite for me. When it's my team, I think about the short week and/or travel. When it's two other teams, I get to just watch and I love football. Of course, I do prefer good matchups. As a team, I would like this sequence: Sunday, Monday (8 days later), Bye, Thursday, Sunday, Monday, Playoff bye (though impossible because there are no Monday Week 17s).

I was thinking the other day, the NFL has basically said they wouldn't schedule a TNF game and then have them play say, MNF after that, because "that would be too short of a turn-around." But when a team plays on Sunday and then Thursday, it's the same time distance. Why is a Sunday-Thursday ok but Thursday-Monday ridiculous? Or am I wrong, do they have some Thursday-Monday back to backs?

You are right about the equal number of days between games, but game week starts on Thursday and ends on Monday. A team playing on Thursday and then Monday would play two games in a game week. Kind of arbitrary, but I think that's the answer.

I think one of the biggest appeals of the NFL compared to the other sports leagues is that games are rare in comparison. I think the Thursday night games are basically diluting their product and making the NFL less appealing. That's just me tho.

It's great for the fans. If you've got 10 games on Sunday at noon how many can you really watch. NFL is moving towards spreading everything out a bit more - which is good.

Wonder if they would ever had (past tense) considered moving the TNF to Wednesday and add a Friday IF they wanted to spread more? That way, a game at least every night. Obviously, bye weeks and extended breaks (10 days) would be used a lot.

I am NOT proposing this, just wondering about the spread out.

Other than usually featuring a poor matchup the worst thing about them is that it takes teams out of their routines. Tough to get ready for a Thursday night game after playing on Sunday. Maybe the league should only schedule teams coming off a bye to play on Thursdays.

If NFL is on during the week, I'll watch, but rarely the entire game unless it's my team playing.

I rarely get to see the whole Thursday game. I have to be up early during the week.
