Good point

In any case, maybe NBCUniv/Comcast will actually have to pony up some cash for NHL coverage, instead of the bullshit deal they have with the NHL, currently.

i'm rooting for espn in a sense only because i think its what helps the league out the most, both financially and with exposure.

my biggest qualm w nbc..... its very, VERY rare, to see a game that doesn't feature one of (most times 2 of) nyr, det, chi, pitt, was, bos, and/or philly

How does the voting work for the TV contracts? Does it need to be unanimous with the owners or 2/3 or.........

i have no clue ... but all it took was 9 members of their executive committee to extend Bettmans contract 5 years

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but the best chance for "multiple games on multiple networks" would be with Turner IMO. TBS, TNT and even TruTV, with no interference from poker, volleyball, or other insignificant "sports".

I don't care who gets it, because I watch 90% of the hockey games I see on my local affiliate (comcast) anyway.

I just hope the NHL gets as much money as possible.

I'm all for more places to watch hockey on TV. I wonder if the labor dispute in the NFL has anything to do with driving up prices?

This^^^^.The only time NESN doesn't have the games is when they're on Versus, NBC, or the NHL network. The only problem with Versus is not everyone has it in their cable package (I'm lucky, I do), but I do like the games on Versus. They did a great job and deserve first crack at them. :bounce:

My only issue with ESPN getting the deal is that hockey would be fighting for coverage against the NFL (forget Monday and Sunday) and NCAA football (forget Thursday and Saturday, maybe Friday) in the fall. Then they would be competing with NCAA Basketball in the spring as well as the NBA, and NBA playoffs right during their playoffs.

I agree which was why I was a little upset that Fox backed out. You had fox, FX, FBN (which has no real nighttime draw) among others/

I can't wait until operators at Turner Sports are fielding complaints when NHL hockey preempts Tyler Perry...:)

An abomination of a show on Peachtree tv (and I assume other Turner networks). Yet it's on almost everyday so it must be popular.
