So everybody gets to see first hand what Seahawks fans have been saying since he's been here, which is that Bevell's a fucking idiot that holds back the team. And it took this for him to finally get canned.

Crazy play calling is also what got Seattle the championship last year. Or at least it beat the Niners in the NFC Championship game. And there was some crazy play calling against the Packers in the comeback, too.

PLEASE FIRE HIM

For weeks, we have heard how rare RW throws INT. Why should the coaches think the will throw an INT? Obviously, they should have ran Lynch. But is putting faith in Wilson such a horrible call, not knowing he was going to throw INT?

It's a horrible call because you have timeouts, time, and beastmode. The rate of an INT is higher than a beastmode fumble that NE recovers before getting a TD on a given play. Anything in the air with a secondary composed Browner and Revis is already dangerous. With a stacked box like that, going to the middle has a pretty decent chance of a guy trying to jump a route- way too risky.

It has nothing to do with whether you trust Wilson not to throw an INT or not. You just shouldn't attempt a throw in that situation. Even if you have a prime Joe Montana as your QB, you should hand the ball to Lynch. 2nd down at goal line, plenty of time, a time out, you have to go with the lowest risk play.

Brady threw 2 in this game but BB called a pass plays in redzone. Lynch fumbled vs Carolina, recovered by Wilson though

I agree but thats not how Seattle plays.

Last year against the Niners, the FG kicker said that he didn't trust his leg. They should've punted. Instead they ran some sort of hail mary vertical play and swung the game.

Two weeks ago against the Packers, they ran on passing downs catching the Packers in super soft zones. I believe there was a 3rd and medium play they ran near the end of the game and they ran a double move and got a massive play. Seattle takes huge risks in their play calling. It works for them because 1) Wilson is mobile and 2) It makes Wilson's read really simple because he is catching the defense off guard.

Devil's advocate: 2nd & Goal from the 1 with 1 time-out left. Seahawks snap the ball with 26 seconds left.
If you run first, don't make it, then call the last timeout, the other team now knows the next play is a pass. It has to be. If you pass first and miss, then the next play is still up in the air for the defense: it could be pass or run. you can argue a different pass play, but pass is the right call on 2nd in that situation.

Btw, if the Seahawks hadn't wasted a time out earlier in that same drive, they don't have to pass the ball on the goal line at all.

For some coaches, winning isn't enough. They also seek to prove that they are the smartest guy in the room.

Pete Carroll, we are looking at you.

It's the worst call if it gets picked. The call itself was okay imo...incomplete the clock stops...if you run Lynch and don't get in ( he has a great game, but was stopped on several short yardage plays) you gotta burn that last TO.

Wilson probably didn't see the inside defender, but you have to throw that away if it's not wide open. A run was a safer play no question, but the QB has to own that, not the HC imo.

With no dog in the fight...it was a great game to watch.

Every week we see so many coaches try to get cute down around the goal line and many times it fails. This is just greatly magnified because of the circumstances obviously.

Usually I don't agree with guys like Smith (calling it the worst play ever) but I have to here. You've got the most difficult to tackle runningback in the league who routinely gets at least 1-2 yards per carry when any other runningback would get tackled for a loss, Pats were gassed, if anything you want to run MORE clock down (40 secs is enough for Brady to get a couple passes and a field goal), you have timeouts...

And you pass against a good secondary. I don't even.... just /facepalm

What was the urgency to stop the clock? You had a timeout, 40 seconds is PLENTY of time at the 1 yard line. I was sitting there thinking, "Hopefully Lynch doesn't pound it in on the first att--- PASS WTF?!"

If you are going to throw the ball, throw a fade/back shoulder to the sideline, they scored on that exact play before the half.

Throwing a ball over the middle is asking to get picked off. Plus Russel Wilson is short, he probably shouldn't ever throw a pass over the middle in that situation because he can't see over his own offensive line that tight.

Look, even if the pass was completed, he doesn't get in the endzone...stupid play, stupid call, stupid pass. you don't pass INTO the heart of a goal line defense, and not even be in the endzone as a receiver. Mind boggling
