Props to the Flames, they took advantage. The Flyers had several opportunities to cash in, and didn't.

i gotta be honest, i can see why that would be called.. but you don't wave off a goal for something you weren't planning on calling a penalty for, that's what bugs me.. the ref had no intention of calling a penalty until the goal was scored, that's what i don't like.. that shot never gets taken if the ref called the penalty when it happened

i would still argue that it wasn't a penalty, but i can kinda see how the ref would call it.. he was turned for a second, and he did put his hand in kipper's face.. was his intention to shield kipper's face? i highly doubt it, but you can see how it could look like that

regardless, the ref wasn't going to call it, then they scored and he decided it was a penalty.. thats garbage and makes it a bad call

I think Pronger's savvy enough to know what he was doing. I think it shouldn't be allowed. I also think it's currently not a penalty, but should be soon. (I probably should have just written that statement instead of the huge three-paragraph essay in the other thread. Oh well.)

I pretty much agree. I would have chosen 'not a Flyer fan, probably shouldnt have been called because of the wording of the rule, but probably should be a call".

I'm just not seeing what the referee is seeing, I guess. Granted, I don't know the Flyers' system, but given the positioning of Richards, Pronger's gesture just screams of communication as opposed to a screen... not that the latter is illegal either!

Seriously though, if directing a play from in front of the net is a penalty, I'd spend more time in the box than John Holmes.

On a side note, bad calls happen all the fucking time and people need to accept that and get over their conspiracy theories and fears that the league is out to get their team. It's a part of life in every sport and we all know that going in.
