How has Harper’s name not been mentioned before this post?
I think outfield is too rich of a position still. You got Henderson, Trout, Robinson. And if I'm throwing in homer names I think Steve Carlton might before him since Harper still has some work to do. I think his complete game and shutout totals are close to Seavers and he did win the Cy Young 4 different times. (of course there are still several good pitchers left that will go before him)

Because he doesn’t belong anywhere near this conversation yet. He’s closer to Manny Machado than he is to Mike Trout at this stage. That’s still a slam dunk first ballot HOFer; but far from an all-timer. We’ll see how his next 5-6 years go to see if he climbs these rankings.

So he is an overt merc. I was trying to give him credit since it was never his direct choice to move around (until signing with the Mets).

He and Trout are kinda the polar opposites in this regard, yet I am the only person I see ever bring it up.

part of the problem is that Soto won a WS as a rookie... so he put his trophy on his mantle and said... MONEY TIME...

I just wanted to pop in and put in my early vote for Marvell Wynne for the #4,762 player in baseball history.
I hope he gets some traction but I have a feeling Neifi Perez may overshadow him

The toughest part when we get that far down the list will be populating the list of players to choose from. I'd hate to get to player number 14000 and realize we forgot about Enos Cabell
Saw that dude live a few times in the Astrodome. Lived in suburban Houston in the 80s. Jose Cruz, Bruce Bochy, Nolan Ryan, JR Richard, Joe Morgan, Cesar Cedeno, Art Howe, etc
