Also just to put a bow on the research, Poehling, Seeler, Drysdale, and Pelletier were the guys on the ice with Hathaway for the hit itself.
Seeler has got to get in there and show some face after a late hit. Maybe he is tired of having to do it every time and we need someone else to step up or maybe play Deslauriers as a regular 4th liner player. Toronto has Reaves play in like 75-80% of their games for a reason.

From the Athletic:

Even the recent Frost-Farabee trade with the Calgary Flames at the end of January has arguably made the Flyers a better team. Frost and Farabee have done very little in Calgary, combining for just four points in 18 games (nine games a piece), while Andrei Kuzmenko found the scoresheet in three of his first four games with the Flyers ahead of Saturday’s meeting with the Jets and Jakob Pelletier got his first point in his second game with the club on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

But that trade did something more, too, even if Kuzmenko and Pelletier, both unsigned past this season, aren’t around for long. It opened more cap space for them to play with for the future, which has been at the top of Briere’s list of priorities since the day he took over.

Losing the $5 million owed to Farabee through 2026-27 gives Briere much more flexibility to take that big swing that everyone knows has to be coming, and that he isn’t the type to shy away from. Depending on who gets shipped out when that day arrives — perhaps this summer — Ristolainen and Laughton could still be valuable players for a team that we know isn’t ever going to try to tank.

Seeing a lot of chatter that the Jones trade (Spencer Knight and a 1st) with just 26% retention making Jones a $7M or so player should mean good things for Risto's value. Jones is probably the better player, but maybe not dramatically? Risto's 5M expiring next year (age 31) compared to Jones' 7M expiring in in 2030 (age 35) is much more attractive though. Plus Jones has a modified NTC and was squawking in the media about wanting to be moved.

Man. If the Flyers fetch even just a 1st for Risto, what a turnaround that would be. Kudos to Torts and Shaw for sure.

That would be incredible but im hearing a lot of stories that nobody is knocking our door down for Risto.

I just want to know why we can't get over on a team like the Avs did with the Rags. Basically a second rounder for Lindgren.

I'm optimistic that's the Flyers trying to be hardliners on the price. It seems the local guys (Kurz in particular) are driving the 'quiet deadline' narrative. Most of the national media seems to put Risto and Laughton pretty high on trade boards.

But I guess we'll see what happens.
