In keeping with the thread titles of the past signaling a new season is here, this is the thread that introduces the 2024-2025 Flyers as taking the next step to working themselves out of a very deep hole of futility.

The FO and the players they are drafting and bringing in through FA as well as moving out the last vestige of the hell years is def taking the right direction for the Flyers to come all the way back to a Championship run which still make still take a few years.

The foundation is being laid (we all hope) and this could be another pivotal year where John Tortorella pushes this team to new performance levels that translates into the next step toward that progression back to the Cup run.

BTW. I just started a new job and I am a bit behind on the new banner. Hang in there. I will get the first draft to everyone soon.

We played very well against the Caps and then we got our lunch handed to us in the back-to-backer against Montreal. Score: 0-5.

Man that stinks. The game is on ESPN + tonight. :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

Good for me! Sorry for you though. Hoping to watch a little tonight, looking forward to it. Happy Michkov and Luchanko are both playing.

Looks like Kolosov is coming over now. Apparently some agreement about being allowed to go back to the KHL if conditions aren't met? Who knows. What a weird story, especially for a guy that's at best our backup goalie?

As soon as he comes back we should trade him for a 3rd round pick.

Probably got nervous they signed that guy on a tryout to a contract.

Caught some of the 1st and 2nd last night. Mostly Ersson just looked really good. But that Frost/Tippet/Michkov line certainly looked dangerous. I hope they give that group a run for a bit and see what they can do.

Frost looks better this year. Looks more determined and having a skilled player like Michkov on his line really helps as that's his type of game as well.

Watched the OT game against Boston.

Michkov makes a lot of great little plays that go un-noticed to most hockey fans.

Risto looked good. His skating was much better than we have seen.

TK had 2 assists but could've very easily had 3 goals off michkov passes point blank in front.

I am very happy that Luchanko not only doesn't look overmatched against NHL player but is flourishing.

I like Hunter MacDonald i hope he gets to be the 7th dman

Fedotov looks very smooth in net much better lateral movement than his couple games last season.

I hope we make the playoffs this year so bad . We 100% should've made it last year if it weren't for Couts bruised ego and Hart missing the rest of the season.
While I understand this, I need to see how things shake out.

I'm 50/50 between tanking and playoffs.
There's really no point in going for it just to miss out on the playoffs.

The two firsts we have coming in will be very late, so our best pick will be our own.
Unless we start out red hot, I would be ok with a youth movement and seeing how they develop at the expense of some wins.
But, if things gel, the power play becomes just average, then maybe there's a reason to go for it.
