I just hope this is not the usual tease, win three or four games vs. good teams go back to playing like crap vs. everyone else.

Yes. We don't yet know about the consistency, but we continue to see that our boys can essentially beat anyone on any given night as the team is currently constructed. To me, that's a positive sign no matter how you swing it.

Three games definitely seems excessive. I'm not so sure that the head is the definitive point of contact and Zibanejad does have the puck. It's not a charge either and Gudas has zero history of suspensions or fines. I just think they saw the head snap back and there was an injury, so they overreacted.

I'm just not sure whether this was head contact or whiplash from being hit high. I am leaning toward the latter.

I'm wondering who is going to replace Gudas. He's been playing very well as of late. It's a big loss.

I am just thinking ahead to when we have Streit back. This could be a much improved defense from that point on. I see now that Schultz will conveniently return just in time to replace Gudas. But, who sits when everyone is healthy?

Well, one of Streit, Schultz, Del Zotto, Schenn, Gostisbehere, Gudas and Medvedev would have to sit as well unless we're dressing 7 defenders. Much tougher decision.

Medvedev is really looking like a magician out there at times lately, Ghost is on fire, Streit is still our best defenseman and Del Zotto is leading the team in ice time. Gudas was playing solid, heavy minutes as of late and it's hard to imagine Schenn or Schultz getting benched. It's really a tough call, but a nice problem to have.

I think it depends on our record, the supply/demand and what value we can get in return, but yes, trading away a defenseman like Schenn, Streit, Del Zotto or Medvedev at some point looks likely.

I love this team and I think it can be competitive as is, but nobody thinks we're winning anything this season, so we would be silly not to build for 2-4 seasons from now via trades later on in the season.
