Off season needs, a number one center. At least two defenseman who have heart and play well. And last but not least a new age coach. Torts is good for some things but he's not a coach I want to see here anymore. He's hit a wall and we need a more offensive minded coach that will still preach accountability. The more times Torts benches Michkov the more I think his coaching style has a place only in a bygone era. With that said it's time for him to be gone.
On the other hand, benching Michkov lowers our chances of winning, so maybe it's a stealth tank move?

I'm ok with Torts up until we think we are ready to start challenging in the playoffs.
Which may not be next year, so I'm ok with the continuity of keeping Torts.

Our salary cap improves the following year and that's when I see our potential push, so a new coach might line up with that.

Benching Michkov lowers our chances of scoring..... winning is a different story.

Comcast’s measurement of Flyer’s success

Shut the fuck up, Comcast, until you can get Carter Hart out of prison you fucking worthless pieces of shit. Fuck you, Hilferty. This is the shittiest franchise I have ever seen in this city.

Lavi
Berube
Hakstol
Vignault
Torts
For good measure Gordon and Yeo.

All will have or have already moved on and we found out none of these guys were ever the problem.
Lets keep that tradition going and fire a coach every few years.
Until we get some decent players it will be a few more coaches blamed and then we can finally have a coach stick around hopefully by 2032.

What you say is true, but we've had a lot of contracts of players that were just shitty. We have the assests now to put in place some good talent, we didn't have that with the other coaches and we're constantly up against the wall with the cap. Bet some of those coaches would do better with the players we have now versus then. Plus we have a lot more picks and options then we had each of those off seasons.

You have a rosy version of our players where as i dont consider any of our players to be top line players on 90% of the league except for TK. Michkov is a third liner at this point and he's our 2nd best scorer. If he develops maybe in 3 more seasons he may be able to play on a top line on a playoff team and that's if he develops an all around game. Anyone we have in our farm systems are mediocre players at best except maybe Luchenko and he's more of a 2 way player rather than a pure offensive player. Any player we draft in the draft positions we have in the next year or two will be at least 2 minor league seasons away from just getting onto our team in their 3rd season.

Read Awaz posts #1546 and #1547 and #1553 i believe he is spot on in those assessments. I hope im wrong though but i dont see any superstars coming anytime soon.

Doesn't have to be all done by draft, could snag some people in free agency to.

I love your optimism but when is the last time a top free agent signed with the Flyers? Not to mention if i was a top free agent and was due to make a lot of money i would sign with one of the teams in a state that doesn't have any income tax.

We haven't had the means to sign a top free agent in at least a decade. All the bs no move contracts to folks like, Hayes, JVR Etc have killed our free agency or any attempted bid at one. We have have things that could make that different now.

I wish to god that i am wrong but not sure the numbers are working out.

Flyers cap hit with projections of signing our RFAs and UFAS is 13 million in cap space next year.

Any player who is a top free agent is going to take at least 10-11 million of that space and leave us in third to last place instead of second to last so why would any top free agent join a rebuilding team?

Scroll down to the pie chart.

That would be $13 mill available with 12 forwards, 7 defensemen and 2 goalies signed. Ellis is the 8th defenseman but he goes to LTIR and the space goes to $19 million. Add one young forward and there is plenty for a top forward. Mitch Marner is probably the top FA next year but Toronto should have the cap space to resign him. Not sure why he would leave for the Flyers, but he is a difference maker. I just don't want to see another Kevin Hayes deal, where they overpaid for a mediocre player just because they had the cap space.

Again, many of these candidates we want to come to the Flyers are not choosing the Flyers because just about the entire league gets it that the Flyers have become a rusted-out, broken-dow,n shitbox to play in and for!!

I disagree, I think it's been more of a lack of funds. We brought in that POS Ellis from free agency and the dude got his pussy hurt and retired. Should have never been on the hook for all that contract but here we are, wish we would have spent that money on a different top teir player. All the money we gave scrubs like Hayes, JVR and a couple of more with no move contracts killed our free agency more than folks not wanting to come here to play. Would you pass up 7 million a year to be a Flyer? Yea, me either.

On Michkov and Torts. I do not like the fact that Torts is constantly on this kids case about being responsible and I think it should be focused on. However, if we're just fucking off the rest of the season, (seeing the efforts of the last 2 games) I would rather see him just be let loose and see what he does. You can work on the rest of his game in the off-season. He's got skills, he'll figure out the rest in time, I'd rather have him Ovie style, little defense A lot of offense.
