Of course, Craig Button also traded Marc Savard for Ruslan Zainullin (who?) and let Martin St. Louis walk away from the Flames for nothing.

Don't leave out the Roman Turek contract, dash. That was so bad when Sutter took over he immediately had to restructure it, IIRC.

Bartkowski and Khoklachev, plus a first-rounder - for Iginla. That's the scuttlebutt all over ... anyone know these prospects? is this a good return?

I'd hold out for more if I was Feaster.

Khokhlachev is, IMO, very boom/bust. I could see him being a legit top 6er, but I could also see him being out of the league in 3 years.

Bartkowski is a meh prospect. Probably an NHL player but unlikely to be anything special. The 1st rounder had better be from this excellent draft. Even still it's going to be late in the first round.

I don't see either prospect mentioned here being better than Joe Morrow in the long run and he was dealt for Brenden Morrow.

I think Feaster should wait at least a day to think this one over and see if anyone comes across with a better offer.

I'm really not too sure about the prospects being mentioned in the Boston deal...that said, I have no idea what Calgary's needs are. The price has gone down a bit it would seem though...

I think the prices we were hearing were the wishes of fans. The issue is that the team on the list don't NEED Iginla. Not saying he won't help but he is not a need. LA doesn't have a first and doesn't want to e the reason a team in their division, next year and on, gets better, next year and on.

as much as I hate the Flames I feel terrible for their fans today. This must be a huge kick in the gut much the same as the day the Oil dealt Smyth to the Isles

It's a tough one for sure, but I'm pretty sure the sun will come up tomorrow.

What you think about the trade itself? seems like the Flames got ripped off to me

Wow, I never really thought that the Flames would deal Iggy. As tough as it may be for the fans I am excited to see if he can make a cup run with the Bruins. I wouldn't mind watching Iginla lift the cup one bit.

Until we know all the details, it's tough to say. Keep in mind that at this point, Iggy is a rental for the Bruins (although I think it's a pretty safe assumption that the Bruins will re-sign him at the end of the season). I think a lot of media speculation/bloggers created some pretty unrealistic packages.

When there are only four teams able to put in a bid, and one of them doesn't have a first round pick, the price will be lower than the Flames would like.

So, who wants Jay Bouwmeester? He should be able to fetch another first round pick.

is a non conditional 1st rounder unrealistic?

Quincy & Gaustad went for 1sts :noidea:

If the trade is made a year ago, I'm pretty sure a 1st rounder would have been non-conditional with a year remaining on Iggy's contract. The fact that he is a UFA at the end of the season is a pretty tough sticking point.

rares, I really like you and I think you're a fine poster, but that's not funny at all.

Haha... right back atcha and sorry, was too good to pass on.

Another good one for us Sharks fans:

Also, Boston, please overpay the Sharks grossly for Clowe immediately. Dougie Wilson will answer his phone in the middle of the night if it rings, guaranteed!
