Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports that, if the Oilers are still out of contention when the deadline arrives, defenceman Ryan Whitney and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin could be moved.

The report states the St. Louis Blues could be a team in the market for Whitney's services.

Who is gonna think Khabiboozin is an upgrade on anyone at this point?

Khabibulin can't seem to stay healthy. The only defenseman on the Oilers I would want is Schultz. Whitney has been a healthy scratch this year. With how bad the Oilers are defensively that says a lot. There will be better defenseman available at the deadline.

Nope as far as I'm concerned the only defenseman on the Oilers roster who's worth a damn is JUSTIN Schultz. What's sad is I really think the Oilers got away with tampering.

There seems to be some skulduggery associated with the Oilers acquiring Justin Schultz, proving tampering is pretty tough though.

Now that Burke is back with the Ducks I'm waiting for the Tavares to Anaheim rumors to begin. Even after Burke was fired he had a Leafs Jersey with his name on it waiting in the lockeroom. Tavares was all class about it. He said he would make sure to thank Mr. Burke for the jersey. LOL

I still think Edmonton makes a ton of sense for the Devils to talk to regarding a trade. Devils need a top 6 winger that can score (Ales Hemsky). Edmonton needs D (Devils have 8 NHL ready D, multiple prospects/guys in AHL). Make this happen Lou.

I think Hemsky is making $5 million a year (not exactly chump change). Just my biased opinion, but he's more sizzle than steak.

Give me 5M for the next two years & I'd go through a wall for any team in the league on any night. I'd allow myself to be a punching bag if asked too do so.

I guess that's why a player like Alexei Kovalev really annoys me. I know he didn't necessarily waste his talent. I just think he could have done so much more with it.
