I'm not old enough to have seen Magic play, but I will say that Kobe is my generation's version of MJ. I'm not sure where he would rank among the greatest of all-time but I do know he has been the greatest of his era alongside Timmy Duncan.
I wasn't old enough to remember MAgic playing either...here is my top 3 list.

1.Jordan
2.Kobe
3.LeBron

Ah right, that explains it! Then why try to add to the conversation?

I've never seen Anthony Davis, Steph Curry or Kyrie Irving play as pros. You won't hear me say anything about them. But Lebron? I watched him for years. I am qualified to educate you on this.

So how many awards has he won the last couple of years then?

I think Kobe's standing is impacted by recency bias. If he retires 3 years ago where does he rank? He has stuck around longer than his body could hold up and the way the last few years have gone have damaged his career achievements in the eyes of a lot of people.

That's fair. But just on the Lakers alone, Kobe isn't that close to the top. Kareem, Magic & Shaq were all better and that's before I even get into the old timers like West, Baylor, Wilt and others that I never saw play.

Lmao, he's not a very smart dresser but I do respect his knowledge of the game. Players around the league acknowledge Kobe's greatness, the only ones who don't are the fans who hate him.

I don't see you disputing any of the names I brought up, by the way.

Hey I just wasn't sure who said that. And he misquoted you anyway. You didn't say he's the greatest champion ever. Russell's 11 rings in 13 years pretty says he is the greatest champion in sports. Or at least the NBA.
and he is...dirts from NYC.

Oh there's no doubt that Kobe is your generations MJ. And in no way am I saying Kobe is not a great player, because he is w/o question. Although nobody will say (obviously) that Kobe is the greatest SG of all time. On the other hand though many think Magic is the greatest PG of all time. There was really something incredible about Magic, and as a Celtics fan from the moment I started following the NBA I always enjoyed Magic run Showtime...well w/ the exception of the '85 & '87 seasons:D. So maybe I'm a bit biased but Magic is the # 1 Laker to me.

If all things were equal, which they will never be in the NBA, he'd have a 2014-2015 regular season MVP on his mantel, right beside his 2015 NBA Finals MVP.

Outscored Igludala 215-98
Outrebounded him 87-35
Beat him assists 53-24

Amount of 2015 NBA Championships:

Iggy: 1
Lebron: 0

That's all that matters.
