Moves that could follow Mookie Betts trade

1. Kris Bryant dealt to Rangers
The Braves, Nationals and Phillies are also in play as the Cubs consider their options. But the Rangers are the most motivated buyer after an offseason in which they dramatically upgraded their starting rotation and attempted to land a star third baseman such as Anthony Rendon or Nolan Arenado.

General manager Jon Daniels needs one more big move to keep pace with the AL's top contenders, and Bryant -- under club control through 2021 -- would not be a one-season rental. Additionally, Texas has an elite third-base prospect in Josh Jung, who could be Bryant’s long-term replacement in Chicago.
According to all these writers the Rangers are getting everyone this off season.

2020 ZiPS Projections: Texas Rangers

Frazier has value as a role player, but he’s not someone who represents a big step forward for the offense. On the contrary, according to the projections, too much Frazier would actually hurt the team if they can’t find enough playing time for Nick Solak at third base and other positions such as center field. ZiPS is on Team Solak, forecasting him for the second-most WAR among the team’s position players if the Rangers find him as much playing time as the projection does.

From the zips article :

“It’s a good thing that the Rangers have shown every indication that, like the Phillies before them, they plan to spend when the time comes. That is a good thing, because at least in the silicon eyes of ZiPS, there isn’t a lot of immediate help on the farm system. I’m not counting Solak as a prospect as this point, but if I did, ZiPS would send him a Valentine’s card on Friday.”

I don’t get why we have a reputation as being spenders. Have they not seen how we negotiated with rendon and castellanos this offseason?

have they not seen how we still need a good RH bat to no avail?

I see a front office that is afraid to spend and hoarding a bunch of mediocre prospects.

either JD or the ownership group needs to go if the lackluster results continue for much longer.

The national media's thinking must be skewed by our local, lap-dog media's reporting.

Astros are going to hear it from all sides all year long.

im definitely rooting for the A’s to overtake them if we’re not strong enough to do so.

This is why it makes no sense to even engage the Cubs in trade talks.

"The Rangers have the financial flexibility to add Bryant. They have some interesting pieces, both at the Major League level and in the farm system. Willie Calhoun and Nick Solak would both be attractive options for Chicago, along with Rangers' top pitching prospect Hans Crouse or third baseman Josh Jung, the Rangers No. 1 prospect on multiple publications."

I agree. 2 year contract is not near enough to give up talent for what is not a final piece

Now, if they want to trade guys who will only be here a year for two for him, I would be fine with that.

Of course but it's written they want prospects or guys who have team control beyond 2 years.
