And yet, in the big leagues, over the last 20 to 25 years, it seems the guys they have drafted as corner guys, like Teixeira, Blalock and Gallo have had the most success. Kinsler was one of the exceptions. You could throw Davis and Moreland in that list of corner guys too.

Jung, most likely, will prove to be one of the better draft picks of the last decade, as a corner guy, as well.
all that ever stood out to me on Kinsler was the fact he could the highest popups i've ever seen

Teixeira was drafted by the Rangers as a 3B out of HS, Gallo was drafted by the Rangers as a 3B out of HS (and played CF), Blalock was drafted by the Rangers as a SS out of HS, Kinsler was drafted by the Rangers as a SS out of HS (29th round no less), Moreland drafted by the Rangers as a1B out of college, Davis was drafted by the Rangers as 1B out of college...

Yep, that is my point.

Yeah he could but he was a dbls machine too.
he was but it seems like he killed at least 2 rallies a game with two of those prodigious popups. hell some were so high it seemed like every player in the dugout could run the bases before it was caught.

Didnt Teixeira go to Georgia Tech and Kinsler to Missouri?

They should be on the rise as there low level talent emerges and their pitching gets the credit it deserves l. Vanasco not even mentioned.
# 3 pick surely will factor in.

I think we will probably take a hit with some trades between now and late July.

I see signing Semien and Seager to mean "we don't want to count on our prospects." With the exception of Jung, Leiter and one or two others.

Maybe Howard too. Lol

I see us trading 6 to 8 of our top 20 prospects by July 31, 2022. And a few outside of the top 20 as well.
I still feel this way.

You're correct I was doing too many things at once on 2 computers and screwed those 2 up. If you haven't messed with a Windows 11 machine you're in for a treat when you finally do... :mad2:

Tex was drafted by the Red Sox out of HS and by the Rangers out of Georgia Institute of Technology, Kinsler was drafted by the Diamondbacks out of HS in the 29th round and by the Rangers out of Missouri in the 17th round.

Yep, that is my point.
I think the bigger point you made is their drafting record for the last 20-25 years is bad period, no matter what position they may have been drafted at...

I think a big part of that was because they were going after toolsy, athletic types and because they underrated corner players, while overemphasizing up the middle guys. Hopefully, that has changed now.

Too many HSers with "supposedly high upsides" drafted with the higher picks that don't normally pan out and not enough college players that have shown what they actually have...
