it's going to be a long lockout
There is not even a meeting on the books or a whimper of any attempt to set a meeting up

Everyone comes across greedy and unconcerned about baseball as a whole.

I am surprised the union does not push a meeting and then publicize what they want.
Tried by the court of public opinion seems to be the norm of the day

The Crim Reaper
I wonder how long before those who rank prospects will start to be willing to admit they were wrong about Crim and give him some respect.

For real!
Unless there’s something about him we don’t know?
Does he struggle with anything over 93 MPH?
Does he struggle against a good slider?
I wonder if they have more information or if they just straight up don’t rank him high because he wasn’t a high draft pick..?

Time will tell

This article addresses the fact that very good young players are underpaid. Once again, the opposite problem is never seen as a problem by those in the media. That opposite problem is the overpaying of older players during the last few years of their contracts. Those two things offset each other, but the players and their media partners only want to address one of those things.

Hello everyone!

hope you all had a merry Christmas and happy new year. Over the last week or so, I’ve been gradually catching up on this thread and now I’m caught up!

i’m stoked that the front office is finally abandoning the half ass offers to free agents where JD and company get laughed out of the conference room and the fan base has to witness them come crawling back to us empty handed while they shrug their shoulders and say “we tried”. Semien and Seager tore it up last year. Glad to have those guys on our team! I guess we should all be grateful that we finally have a 2nd baseman who can hit and we didn’t have to give him any ponies.

We are either going to have to convert some of these middle infield prospects to other positions or trade them. I really like that Duran kid we got from the Yankees. I think he’s a guy to watch going forward.

I know the Rangers will not do this, but I would be happy if they decided to stand pat. Here are my reasons.

Josh Jung
Justin Foscue
Josh Smith
Blaine Crim
Dustin Harris
Esquivel Duran
Davis Wendzel
Al Leiter
Cole Winn
Ricky Vanasco
Owen White
Tekoh Roby
Cody Bradford
2022 third overall draft pick

If they want to sign short term deals for someone like Kershaw then I would be fine with that.

Again, I know they will not do this. I still fully expect 5 to 8 of our top 20 prospects to be traded between now and the next trade deadline.

From Jeff Wilson:

Blaine Crim has been on a roll since May, when his first full pro season started at High A Hickory.

He earned a bump to Double A Frisco and did just fine there to end the season.

He then chose to play this winter in Puerto Rico, and he has made history.

The Texas Rangers prospect became the first player born and raised in the United States to win the Puerto Rican Winter League batting crown while batting at least .400 since the 1948-49 season.

The U.S. had only 48 states at the time.

Crim, a first baseman, batted .417 for Mayaguez, which has advanced to the postseason. He posted a league-best 1.078 OPS, in large part due to 12 extra-base hits (three homers) in 96 at-bats.

It’s a small sample, but Crim finished 40 points higher than the runner-up in batting average and the Rangers continue to like what they see from a player who would become their top-ranked first baseman if Dustin Harris sticks in the outfield.

Crim has done nothing but hit since being selected in the 19th round of the 2019 draft (Mississippi College). He batted .300 at Hickory and .288 at Frisco, and has a .314 career minor-league average with 37 home runs in 630 at-bats.

I still hope they get Suzuki. The rest is window dressing or bridge unless a mysterious catcher or CF sign and trade

Still want to see how Huff develops. If he can’t catch his pathway has shrunk

Nice to hear from you. Is there any Ranger nemesis for you now or potentially?
We raz you but you help make the board fun.
