They need to start 140 games next season. They cannot do that as bench players.I do because they’re blocking Huff and Jung. We need to put them on the field in 2021
Making Rule 5 decisions should be easy this year.
You keep coming up with unattainable numbers. Why 140 games? Why not 82 at 3rd for Jung and at C for Huff plus time at DH adding up to 100 letting them get acclimated to the big league. They need to start 140 games next season. They cannot do that as bench players.
Unsustainable? LolYou keep coming up with unattainable numbers. Why 140 games? Why not 82 at 3rd for Jung and at C for Huff plus time at DH adding up to 100 letting them get acclimated to the big league.
Of the ones you mentioned only Teixeira and Andrea started more than 140 games here. The others played 120 games or less their 1st season hereUnsustainable? Lol
That is the way it is done when you bring up position prospects. Barring an injury that is what happens. No good prospect is brought up to play just 100 of 162 games. Look at our top position player prospects over the last 20 years or so. Young, Kinsler, Blalock, Teixeira, Palmer, Andrus, and Davis all started on just about an every day basis either in the minors or here when they were brought up. None of them were limited to less than 140 games except Kinsler, slightly, due to injury.
There is a reason for that. It is because it hurts their development to sit the bench for 60 games a year or anything close to that.
Doubt if Huff plays 140 games without injury and what will Trevino do all season?Of the ones you mentioned only Teixeira and Andrea started more than 140 games here. The others played 120 games or less their 1st season here
I think Trevino and Huff split the catching duties equally. I think IKF and Jung equally split time at 3rd and Andrea and Tejeda split time at SSDoubt if Huff plays 140 games without injury and what will Trevino do all season?
Same situation with Jung. If he plays 140 then what happens with IKF? See your point. Then what happens with Elvis if IKF plays SS?
That makes more sense. To think any catcher playing 140 games is unthinkable.I think Trevino and Huff split the catching duties equally. I think IKF and Jung equally split time at 3rd and Andrea and Tejeda split time at SS
You are failing to include the games they played in the minors in their first year here. In my original statement I mentioned they need to play in 140 games somewhere. I never had a problem with the number of games they might play here next year as long as they were not riding the bench. That means they would play in the minors if they couldn't be everyday players here. That was the case with all of the players I mentioned. No good prospect comes up and rides the bench for 60 games a year like you suggested.Of the ones you mentioned only Teixeira and Andrea started more than 140 games here. No good catching prospect sits 60 games a year. That is unthinkable. If you have an offensive strong catcher like Huff you find ways to get him into the game a lot more than 100 times a year. That makes more sense. To think any catcher playing 140 games is unthinkable.
You could probably add in 10 more guys making the minimum for a total of close to $6 million. Then probably 3 veteran types making $6-10 million combined.Based on Spotrac we have 11 players under contract totaling $74016667 throw in Kluber’s $1M buyout payroll and we’re at $75016667.
When you are starting from scratch at most positions and wanting the best scenario for the team you play the best you’ve got. You don’t waste money and playing time on scrubs and mediocrity you utilize the best. You are failing to include the games they played in the minors in their first year here. So spend (waste) millions on “veterans” that hold back the advancement of the kids. But oh yeah in your scenario we trade them away for garbage at the trade deadline. You could probably add in 10 more guys making the minimum for a total of close to $6 million. Santana is currently damaged goods. He will be nontendered. Maybe an MILB/MLB conversion contract until healthySo unless we figure some way to trade Lynn, Odor, Gibson and Lyles, who gets benched or sent to the minors. Lynn, Gibson & Lyles eat up 3 starter spots and Allard makes 4 so 1 position and 3 or 4 young guys who should be given their chance end up back in the minors. Odor blocks Solak at 2B and if we bring back Santana he blocks Solak, Calhoun and Taveras. And you talk about adding 3 cheap veterans who will eat up playing time for other young players.
