Looks like quite a bit of penny pinching this upcoming year.
Bet Santana is non tendered. They restructured KGravemans for the As
If they don't keep Santana, then I would like to see them sign a good OF to a one year deal and then flip him at the deadline. There should be plenty of one year signings as guys will be willing to wait a year for a much more lucrative multi-year deal.

Sounds good in theory.. going to be a lot of talent available after all this shakes down.

They might resign Santana to a MILB contract that converts to MLB contract due to his injury.

Be nice to get him back the way he was before going south.

Guzman closed out the season looking better. He will be a key figure in 2022. Gallo also is a key figure to watch. He was awful but can turn it around but will he? Odor is a problem any way ya cut it. He is FO problem and the bench is all I can see if he helps the team. Position players otherwise look promising. Pitching is altogether another story but that too has some key figures. We'll see.

If they are bringing back Lyles, Lynn and Gibson, and the rumors are true that they are trying to sign Kluber to a reduced rate, then there will not be much young talent in the rotation at all.

How many veterans would you think they would have in the rotation and still have enough young talent to warrant 2 pitching coaches?

what good OF'er is going to sign with Texas under that scenario? some 3rd, 4th or 5th level FA who won't be worth the wasted money and bring little at the trade deadline if anything. and as Texas has a history of exactly that type of off-season move players of any worth are not going to come here. rather see them re-sign Santana to 1-year reduced deal and play him in LF. keep Tevaras in CF and Joey in right.

well Todd Frazier and Robinson Chirinos have been released by the Mets so i half expect to see JD rush out and sign them and during the presser crow about how much better the Rangers have gotten

I would like to see them retain Santana and start him everyday. Then they can trade him at the deadline if he hits the same way he has before when he plays every day.

Plan B for me is what I stated before. There will no doubt be some guys who find it difficult to sign the multi-year deal that they want. They will be looking for a one year deal to get them through the remaining uncertainty of the state of baseball finances. If we are smart we will spend a decent amount to do one of those one year deals just to deal the guy at the deadline. Bad Oakland teams used to find a way to do that with less guys available than will be available this year. Bad teams can get that done, if they really want to.

If they are backups I don't have a problem with that. I really don't care to have any of our younger guys on the bench.

This sign someone so we can trade them is getting old and it does nothing for the team or fans

I do because they’re blocking Huff and Jung. We need to put them on the field in 2021

I would rather we our young guys just develop at the MLB level. Elvis may be a back up anyways. So maybe Tejeda starts year in minors. Or offsite depending how things shake out and then plays SS at break.
