We have a score of young pitchers that have a lot of talent. We may need two coaches to give the guys a lot of help. I went back and reviewed the number of good pitching prospects. May really need the coaches. Just an observation.
My thinking is maybe they are hoping to have two pitching coaches instead of having multiple veterans on the staff as leaders. Maybe keep only one veteran starter and one or none in the pen.
That is more less what I was trying to say. Lot of young talent to look at and more than one coach needed to bring them around.
If they are bringing back Lyles, Lynn and Gibson, and the rumors are true that they are trying to sign Kluber to a reduced rate, then there will not be much young talent in the rotation at all.
Do you mean more development at the big league level then? That is kind of what I was getting at, that they very well may intend on having 3 or 4 young pitchers in the rotation. That would definitely require more development personnel than usual at the big leagues level.

Development can also occur in the BP with young talent as well as rotation players. I can't say that two coaches are needed but I can't say it will hurt either. Kind of a luxury but we can't deny something needs to happen in the development dept.
No. Rather go forward with younger guys if that is what FO has in mind.
I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as they plan on having veterans make up most of the pen. If that is the case then O'Day fits in.
