Makes no sense as to why they didn't pick up his option and then brought in Mathis, that's the offseason move that puzzled me the most

He was worth more than the option. Could have traded and landed a prospect

I blame Wash for that. lol

He couldn't even be a quitter the right wsy.

Hmmm ...nice take but.......regardless that was a time when development of young players was more important than eeking out an extra win.

Which guys did they not play that they should have?

They were losing with the same guys they started winning with. The difference was the manager.

Last night during the WS, the announcers said that Moreno and the Angel's were automatically the favorites to get Cole. They said that him being from California and the fact that Moreno will be willing to outbid everyone will get them Cole. I would offer him 8 years 275M just to force Moreno to go 300M.

The moves Chaim Bloom should consider to navigate difficult Red Sox road

So, for example, could Boston trade Price to Texas for Shin-Soo Choo ($21 million for 2020) and Rougned Odor (three years, $36 million left)? Boston would save $4 million toward the 2020 tax, get a one-year DH stopgap for Martinez in Choo and take on a distressed contract in Odor to balance some of the money and he can play second. Price, if healthy, fits with Lance Lynn and Mike Minor to provide a strong rotation top three to open a new stadium in Texas.

Like getting rid of Choo and Odor but pass on Price

If we did that deal I would want Biston to pay part of his salary in 2021 and 2022.
They would probably expect us to pay part of Odor's salary in 2020, 2021 & 2022 & the buyout on 2023

I doubt they wouldn't ask that. I think we could get the deal done with them throwing in $7-10 million in each of the last two years of his contract. Someone might have to fork over a million or so to convince Choo to waive his rights to veto a trade though.

I would want Price to pass a physical first.

Still think that under the right form of coercion Choo would be willing to leave

I want them gone too I just don't see Price as being useable
If he is healthy he is usable. Before getting hurt his ERA looked very good.
