Lessons learned should demand it. Can not afford to fall into anymore contract traps. If it were not for poor negotiations in the past we would be in pretty good shape today. That is why I would insist on a physical.

I agree because when he came back Boston was reluctant to use himThat is why I would insist on a physical.
The moves Chaim Bloom should consider to navigate difficult Red Sox road
So, for example, could Boston trade Price to Texas for Shin-Soo Choo ($21 million for 2020) and Rougned Odor (three years, $36 million left)? Boston would save $4 million toward the 2020 tax, get a one-year DH stopgap for Martinez in Choo and take on a distressed contract in Odor to balance some of the money and he can play second. Price, if healthy, fits with Lance Lynn and Mike Minor to provide a strong rotation top three to open a new stadium in Texas.
You realize Price gets 32 mill a year for the next 3 years. Plus he seems to be on the DL quite often lately. 2 full seasons out of the last 5. I wonder if we couldn't just find a trade partner for Odor by not asking for much in return.
It must be really hard for the JD apologists to give up on Odor.
Yes, I do. That is why I included the conditions that I gave. You realize Price gets 32 mill a year for the next 3 years. Plus he seems to be on the DL quite often lately. 2 full seasons out of the last 5. I wonder if we couldn't just find a trade partner for Odor by not asking for much in return.

And do we really need another LH starterYou realize Price gets 32 mill a year for the next 3 years. Plus he seems to be on the DL quite often lately. 2 full seasons out of the last 5. I wonder if we couldn't just find a trade partner for Odor by not asking for much in return.
Maybe if we ate a chunk of his leftover contract maybe around 6M of each yearYou realize Price gets 32 mill a year for the next 3 years. Good point ScottyAnd do we really need another LH starter
Who besides Minor do we have penciled in as a SP that is a lefty? From what they say, none of the young SP are guaranteed a spot next year. Four of our biggest upside pitching prospects are righthanded. Crouse, Winn, Vanasco and Henriquez are all righthanded. And do we really need another LH starter

As far as next year and most likely 2021 as well, who cares if we are balanced or not, whether that be in the lineup or in the rotation?
He is, but he isn't guaranteed a spot.Is Allard LH
Some of us do care if we have a team that at least shows some bit of competitiveness this coming season and 2021. If we had one more LH starter how much less competitive would we be? Would we only win 80 games instead of 83 or what? That is a silly thing to worry about at this point. Some of us do care if we have a team that at least shows some bit of competitiveness this coming season and 2021. I understand you don't but I do
if we can improve by 5 to 7 games over last season in 2020 and be close to 82-82 I consider it competitive and by the same number in 2021 I would be happy. bringing in Price doesn't get us there unless your plan includes adding some good free agents too. Mino, lynn, price, allard & ? doesn't do it in my book.If we had one more LH starter how much less competitive would we be? Would we only win 80 games instead of 83 or what? Now if it was a difference of winning 92 games or 95 then that would be a big deal.
Besides, who says having a healthy Price in the rotation along with Solak playing 2B instead of Odor isn't more competitive?
it depends on what else you would do. personally I would pass on darvish but I like going after rendon. so yeah I guess we would be competitive with that path.If it was up to me I would simply trade Odor and Choo to the highest bidder no matter what we get for them and what we have to pay on their salaries going forward, reasonably speaking that is. I wouldn't do a deal like we did with LAA for Hamilton or anything. I would eat half or a little more of Choo's salary and half of Odor's salary if need be.
I would also sign Rendon and if he opts out, Darvish. But, I guess to Scotty, that is just me not wanting to be competitibe.
It is writer, Joel Sherman's plan, not mine. It is one trade possibility, it isn't the complete offseason plan. It is not supposed to represent the complete rebuilding plan.if we can improve by 5 to 7 games over last season in 2020 and be close to 82-82 I consider it competitive and by the same number in 2021 I would be happy. bringing in Price doesn't get us there unless your plan includes adding some good free agents too.
