Would not move on Price. Too much injury to gamble on. Enough of that thinking. Finalize 1b/3b and set sights on quality pitching.
I recognize that. I would be interested to see all of it. would like to see them moved Gallo to RF and sign or trade for a quality CF'er or use Santana there. sign Rendon or trade for Kris Bryant to play 3rd and sign a quality C. of course that would leave us needing a DH. batting order: elvis, santana, Calhoun, rendon/Bryant, gallo, fa catcher, sloak, guzman & DH. of course that be contingent on trading Choo, Odor & MazaraIt is writer, Joel Sherman's plan, not mine. It is one trade possibility, it isn't the complete offseason plan. It is not supposed to represent the complete rebuilding plan.
One thing to keep in mind is that Price's injury in 2017 was put behind him by starting in 30 games in 2018. His injury that made him miss significant time this season was a cyst in his wrist. They tried non-surgical options and those didn't work. He had surgery at the end of September and he is expected to fully recover from that. Before his wrist problems he had an ERA around 3.30.Would not move on Price. Too much injury to gamble on. Enough of that thinking. Finalize 1b/3b and set sights on quality pitching.
If we could get some pay down on Price, it is something to consider but Allard will be a SP next year IMO.One thing to keep in mind is that Price's injury in 2017 was put behind him by starting in 30 games in 2018. Minor, Yu, Price, Lynn, Allard. If we could get some pay down on Price, it is something to consider but Allard will be a SP next year IMO.
Still would rather have Yu. I like the fact it frees up some spots and we do have Solak. Still a risk on upside for Odor like it or not
Are you listing Yu as #2? ERA 3.98 2019. Either way those four look purty good but doubt it happens lolMinor, Yu, Price, Lynn, Allard.
Two things to consider about that. Yu turned some kind of a corner in the second half of this season and I think he will be a lot more comfortable here. Are you listing Yu as #2? ERA 3.98 2019. Either way those four look purty good but doubt it happens lol
Yu can't hurt us. Bring him onTwo things to consider about that. Yu turned some kind of a corner in the second half of this season and I think he will be a lot more comfortable here.
But what would Boston do with Pedroia and his 25M due in 2020 and 2021. You would have to find a spot for him or OdorThe moves Chaim Bloom should consider to navigate difficult Red Sox road
So, for example, could Boston trade Price to Texas for Shin-Soo Choo ($21 million for 2020) and Rougned Odor (three years, $36 million left)? Boston would save $4 million toward the 2020 tax, get a one-year DH stopgap for Martinez in Choo and take on a distressed contract in Odor to balance some of the money and he can play second. Price, if healthy, fits with Lance Lynn and Mike Minor to provide a strong rotation top three to open a new stadium in Texas.
Pedroia hasn't been the same since Machado took him out with a slide in April of 2017. He has played in a handful of games the past two seasons. But what would Boston do with Pedroia and his 25M due in 2020 and 2021. You would have to find a spot for him or Odor
I know that but he is still on the Red Sox roster and owed 25M over the 2020 and 2021 seasons and he doesn't plan on walking away and he is still technically their 2nd Baseman. what do they do with him if they were to trade Price for Choo and Odor? and what if JD Martinez doesn't opt out? why would they take Choo?Pedroia hasn't been the same since Machado took him out with a slide in April of 2017. Sometime it is not only players that win championships but excellent GM's as well.

Going by spotrac they are at 223M with the luxury tax level at 208M. Even if JDM opts out they are right at the luxury tax which means they have clear more salary moving Price and taking on Choo and Odor only clears 1.7M they would have to clear a whole lot moreThey may be under the luxury tax already if JDM does not opt out. I have heard they do want to avoid this coming year
You will have to ask Joel sherman. He is the one who did the research to write the story. We could probably pick apart every trade scenario that is put forth over the offseason if we try, except those we like of course.I know that but he is still on the Red Sox roster and owed 25M over the 2020 and 2021 seasons and he doesn't plan on walking away and he is still technically their 2nd Baseman. what do they do with him if they were to trade Price for Choo and Odor? and what if JD Martinez doesn't opt out? why would they take Choo?
