3-year contract for the new manager.

It is somewhat of a head-scratcher. They didn't seem to be able to find anyone they liked and then seemed to decide that they had to take someone.

If the window is longer and new manager agrees the why would someone sign

I would like Choo gone and Gallo at DH and slide Calhoun into LF and Heineman into CF. Carry Hunter Cole as our extra OF'er. Trade Andrus, play Guzman at 1B, Odor at 2B, Profar at SS, IKF & Ibanez splitting time at 3B, Trevino & IKF splitting time behind the plate. Bench would be Cole, Ibanez, Lopes and Morgan

You think Calhoun is better defenseless then Gallo?

Andre's hat a terrible season and trade value a lot lower than last year. Big year for him to produce but I bet he does.

Wonder about Morgan- whether he might be on 25 man at some point but Ibanez despite decent AAA stats may not even get added to 40 man. Trevino is not considered ready yet but he may be up later. What we do at catcher will be interesting. Not sure re Cole.

I get your point but too much is being made of Gallo imo. The guy can not hit. Wish he could hit more singles and doubles and raise his BA to .240 then we would really have something to crow about besides a 450 ft. HR. A 320 ft. counts the same. To much attention is given to monster HR instead of a smooth BA and RBI's. He has potential to be a very good player and needs to get his attitude adjusted.

I could care less about tape measure shots. We need a guy who has MVP potential. He might be that guy. Board gave up on him 2 years ago and he made adjustments but of course so did the rest of the league. He is no JD Martinez but he as to strike out less and figure out the shift. Maybe the new mgr can get into his head. If he does not we have an Adam Dunn type guy who should bat lower half of lineup. That's ok but would be a huge disappointment. But yes time may be running out.

Can't really understand why anyone would want become the Rangers manager with what he's going to inherit
It is called getting experience in a field that you desperately want to work in. No team on the cusp of being great is going to hire the guy with no experience. He has to start out with a team like ours.

But contrarily teams that are doing well usually are not looking for a new manager.

If I was a new manager, I would be looking for FO support and an up and coming minor league system with promising prospects on the way.

I just don't see putting Gallo at 3B, when he says he hates playing there.

Gallo at 3B is something I think about when I think about our future with guys like JPM, Bubba, and Taveras. Not to mention Heineman and others.

He could transition to 1B if we strike gold on these 3 but I just hope he gets a permanent position this year

Too much to think about that far away. Still have no idea how Choo and Beltre will effect things. Who may or may not be traded looms. Just to much unknown at this point but for the time being, Gallo looks better in the OF to me.

Trevino needs to step up. It's time to see if the good stats at AAA translate to the bigs for Ibanez, Cole, Morgan, Lopes and Heineman

We have some good 1B who may arrive before Taveras does. It is a long way off, but I would like to find out what kind d of 3B he could be before relegating him to the OF. It is all just a pipe dream of mine because the favored one will not be traded which keeps Profar at 3B.

Morgan didn't even have good AA stats. He is pretty much a washout as a prospect. Lopes and Cole hit in the .260s.

The Yankees are looking for a Left hitting DH and Choo fits their need plus they want rid of Gray

They also don't want to take on large amounts of salary, they have been actively trying to get below the luxury tax for years now and just achieved that

Plus they have Hicks, Gardner, Stanton and Judge in the OF/DH spots already

I think we are better off as an organization if the new manager and GM decide we are better off going forward with Gallo at 3B and Profar at 2B and Odor traded.

Gallo has stated that he hates playing 3B

I'm guessing the IF is going to look pretty much the same this 2019 year as 2018. OF too. Got to land a rotation first and then perhaps we may see a FA/trade or two.
