Unfortunately the contract of Pederson is too prohibitive to move him or outright DFA him. No one is picking that up.

Yes. We are stuck with him.

The best I can tell, if Evan Carter spends 40 days of the Rangers regular season in the minors, they can gain an extra year of control over him. It is usually 16 days, but Evan got 24 days credited to him at the end of 2023. I believe that means after 40 days of the regular season he would have his service time delayed enough to keep him under control another year.

The Rangers don't typically worry about such things, but Carter has already had a year of control wasted with him hurt almost the entire year. If they are planning on that then the 40 days are up on May 5. If they bring him up right after that date we will know why. Let's see if they activate him on May 6.
It may work out exactly like the scenario I presented.

Let's hope someone claims Leody on waivers and takes on his salary.

Well it's a start. Semien and Pederson aren't going anywhere. The real question is what to do with Adolis Garcia. I know he will not be a Ranger next season...but he is still regressing and will be an anchor in this lineup all year.

If Carter comes back. I would play him against left handed pitchers only.

From Ken Rosenthal:

If no team claims Taveras, he has the right to elect free agency as a player with three-plus years of his service. But if he does, he forfeits his salary. If he does not elect free agency, he is taken off the 40-man roster and reports to the minors.

So either Taveras gets claimed and his remaining money is off the books or he doesn't get claimed and he will still be available to trade if we eat some of his money. I doubt he elects free agency.

Well they could not trade him so wonder if we eat half and grab a player

Yeah, that's what I am thinking, but there is a chance someone claims him. Maybe even a team that wants to play him, and see if they can flip him at the deadline..

It would have been nice to have traded Taveras in the offseason before we used him and caused his trade value to go down. Another 5 weeks of him disappointing hurt his value.

If someone wants to do some snooping and come up with a few teams the Rangers might be able to make a deal with for Taveras...

These are the team depth charts for CFers at the beginning of the season: Depth Charts - CF | FanGraphs Baseball

And these are the current stats for CFers that have enough playing time/ABs to qualify. As you can see there are probably a half dozen teams or so that might be in the market for a CFer because they are using multiple players to fill the position...

And....

Baseball America included High-A Hub City OF Dylan Dreiling as one of 10 hitting prospects in all of the minors “who stood out in April.”

Here is what they had to say about Dylan Dreiling.:

Dylan Dreiling, OF, Rangers

A second-round pick from Tennessee’s 2024 national championship team, Dreiling has stood out with High-A Hub City. Over 19 games in April, he hit .278/.384/.417 with two home runs and five stolen bases. Dreiling rarely whiffed over the first month, netting a swinging-strike rate of just 5.1%.

The underlying data shines a light on Dreiling’s balanced skill set. His .435 xwOBA is a standout number, backed by a 19% chase rate, 15% whiff rate and 106 mph max EV. While Dreiling shows average raw power metrics, he makes his best contact at good angles, as evidenced by a 15 degree average launch. Dreiling will likely be challenged with a promotion to Double-A before long, and if his early underlying data is any indication, he could be a prospect on the rise.

I am hoping that he is feeling some heat himself. This is his watch and lots of his doing. He needs to find a way to get this team back to performing at a high level
