In case there are some folks who want to go ahead and jump to the offseason topics I thought I would go ahead and make a thread. It seems like some of the last few threads have had a lot of that kind of discussion already.

Maybe we could get some predictions about how the roster will look on Opening Day in 6 months.

Let's take a guess at what our pitching staff will look like. You can use a name or if you think it will be filled with a free agent put down FA and how many years and for what price we sign them. For example: FA 2/$15 million. Let's have 6 starters, since one will probably be hurt to start the season, and 7 bullpen pitchers.

Manager predictions are a start.

Not sure who but a youngish guy who likely was a player maybe someone who is bilingual. Sure they would like MY but too soon

I also think they will sign a couple of Gallardo/Colon types for minor league depth.

I would wait on guessing that until they have the interviews scheduled. There is such a wide array of places to get a possible name from that that would be very difficult to do before they have narrowed the list down.

It will be nice to have minor league depth that we bring up vs. buying those types of guys. But yes we will sin a couple for sure.
Will give my first draft player list a bit later

I caught some of the Sox/Yanks today and they were discussing the new trend in managers. Young guys who fully embrace analytics. Also mentioned the "starter" trend and how baseball will starting shifting more towards that.

I would like to see some elaboration from Elvis on that last comment.

TAG in pregame summaries Beltre dilemma in whether to do one more year or not but listening to interview ai do think he does not want to block a young guy needing AND deserving to play

Aimed squarely at Calhoun

Astute thought.

Calhoun has stated he wants to take conditioning more seriously this offseason. Perhaps less video games perhaps?

Well the phrase he used is "bunch of guys" so it must be aimed at more than Calhoun if I feed his is one of them.

What I was wanting to know is how players do things to help themselves stay in the big leagues without those things also helping the team?

You pinpoint Calhoun, so what is an example of how Calhoun is keeping himself in the big leagues that isn't helping the team?

My understanding of what Elvis was saying was that the young guys worry about getting sent down and therefore have a hard time being focused and producing.

That might be a concern, but I would think that would serve as motivation.

I think that has been the motivation for dozens of prospects throughout baseball every year for decades.

Perhaps Elvis is taking another step towards assuming leadership role on this team. A new Captain may be emerging.

Calhoun just posted that he was taking a break from social media to regain focus.
