Yeah, Yzerman got a LOT of big time praise early on, but...there's a lot of talent in that town. Stamkos, St. Louis, Lecavalier should be enough of a base to do quite well...and honestly, how much has that team changed since 2010? I guess not getting a goalie really spelled the end. Considering the injury issues they've had, I'm a bit shocked Boucher got the axe.

He gave up a bunch of 2nd round picks for Lindback who's been shaky at best. Yzerman has made a lot of excuses for Lindback. Saying it's going to take time for him to adjust to being a starter. Tell that to Victor Fasth of Anaheim who was a free agent signee by the Ducks. The goalie Yzerman should have acquired is Jonathan Bernier. He didn't want to pay the price. Now he's fired the coach. The Lightning do have some good young talent coming, but the media has been drinking the kool-aid on Yzerman.

It's easy to pick team Canada for the Olympics. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put that team together. Any of us could do it. I guess it's much more difficult to put a team together even though you inherited 3 superstars to build it around.

I would think that should be blamed on Stevie not guy right? They're 3rd in goals scored but 24th in goals against. I don't know why the coach gets blamed for that.

No coach is going to look good without good goaltending.

I also wonder why Stamkos has pretty much gotten a free pass a being a one dimensional goal scorer - doesn't seem like he ever bought into Boucher's system.

It's the Ovechkin affect: when you're scoring, no one really cares that much...but when you hit a drought (which, honestly, he hasn't really yet in his young career) the world starts to notice.

Didn't he win GM of the year a few years back? Am I mis-remembering this? I remember most everyone was drinking the kool-aid. But you're completely right. I could easily form Team Canada.

Nevermind, he was nominated for GM of the year.

Yzerman seems to be living off of the run Roloson went on.

His 2010 offseason moves:

Picking Brett Connolly 6th overall
Trading Mezarros to Philly for 2nd rounder (drafted Brian Hart)
Resigning St. Louis
Signing: Kubina, Bergenheim, Dominic Moore, MA Pouliot, Brett Clark, Randy Jones, and Dan Ellis, restructuring Steve Downie's deal
Trading for Gagne

His 2010/2011 season moves:
Trading for Roloson and Eric Brewer were the ones of note

2011/12 moves:
Trading Dominic Moore away
Trading for Bruno Gervais
Trading Kubina away
Trading Downie for Quincey and Quincey for 1st
Trading for Mike Commodore
Trading Carter Ashton for Keith Aulie
Signed Conacher
Signed Ouellet, Garon, Pyatt, Gilroy
Didn't sign Mike Smith

2012/13 moves:
Trading for Lindback
Trading for Benoit Pouliot's rights
Trading for BJ Crombeen
Signing Salo, Carle, and Sustr recently

In going through that signing Conacher is his crowning achievement.

Trap crap ruin hocket to much. Coach like Hitch and Lamare ruin it all time because players dont score using trap crap. People should no this bye now when you trap you crap up hockey. Score one goal and trap to win and this crap it's what happens you have 3-2 scores and people wont watch. They want scoring not trap with games finish 2-1 or 4-1 it's dum and its crap.

Hockey is ruinened forever I hope we get back to 9-8 scores when defense make a difference any team can play trap just look at Lamaieur and Hitchcok.

Yea,you have to hate the special treatment Stamkos,St.Louis and LeCavalier get for being Canadian.

As another poster said,if they had decent goaltending these guys would have a solid team. Most teams are lucky enough to have 1 or 2 quality stars-they have 3,in these guys.
Too bad Marty is getting towards the end of his career.

I have no idea how Lavi is hanging on.

Here's hoping that the Pens give him a little shove out the door tomorrow morning...
