there was when I was a kid (many moons ago).
winter was hockey , and summer was split between baseball/fast pitch and lacrosse.
the toughest hockey players I played against usually lacrossed in the summer.

and probably similar to Ontario, everything was box lacrosse.
i can't ever remember seeing it played on a field.

Yeah it was always box.

I don't know how guys play that. It's terrifying. I had friends who legit had panic attacks before some games, particularly before ones against Six Nations which oddly enough Brandon Montour played for.

even in hockey, the first nations teams were just tough as nails.

the not-so-fun thing coming back to hockey camps after i was off playing softball was that the lacrosse kids took a while to get used to what was illegal again. Specifically crosschecking across the arms and slashing across everywhere.
