Okay, let me clarify then. JTA had said Smoak projected out to hit 21 in a 162 game season. I said I wanted 25 minimum and preferably 30. You just changed the conversation to what they hit while playing 1B. If we keep this to the original discussion we were talking about what your !B hits on a 162 game average. Just because a lot of 1B are playing at other positions or hitting at DH doesn't change the fact that they are capable of hitting 25 or more in a 162 game span.

I believe there were 13 teams that got 25 or more HRs from their collective first basemen last year. I want to get 25-30 at least from my primary first baseman and if others play that position in his place at times it would be good to get that many from that position collectively. If Prince and Mitch split 1B and combined they hit 25-30 then that is fine with me even if neither of them hit 25 while playing 1B.

Smoak being able to hit 21 HRs in a full 162 game season is not good enough for me and doesn't impress me at all.

If you look at only HRs yes, if he did the OTHER things he was supposed to do, then he still would've been a very good 1B, but since he can't hit, then he is very below average

Elvis is the only RH bat besides Cheerios? Ugh...this team is in serious need of a RH bat that isn't Smolinski.

Rosales and Alberto are RH.

Alright, let's say Gallo stays till the 21st. That would be a little under three weeks, and 19 potential games. Now I expect him to sit a few, but I'm curious what you guys predict for his production during his stint here. I'll go first, and I'll admit there's a bit of hope in mine.

16 games/.245/.325/.515/3HR/9RBI

I will go with .240 and 5 HRs. I think he strikes out an average of 2 times per game.

Tonight he goes 1-4 with a single and 2 strikeouts.

If he only hit 21 HRs he would have had to do a lot of other things for me. Very good defense, a lot of doubles, and a very high average.

Rangers fans must really be loving that Prince for Kinsler trade more and more. What a beast!

David Clyde was probably the most anticipated Rangers player i remember. when he was announced as the starting pitcher they went from 10-12 thousand to a full house in what seemed like minutes and every local network had camera and news crews hanging out of the rafters of the old Arlington Stadium

I pray this calling for Gallo is far more sustainable than poor David's was.

That was sad to the point of almost being cruel. Wasn't meant to be, but as far as I'm concerned, he's the poster boy on how not to cultivate your draft picks.

It is looking much better this year so far. Fielder has been the catalyst to this turnaround lately.

Last year at this time the Tigers was dancing in the streets. Now it's our turn.

"That the way baseball go" as some great philosopher once said.

Yes. Other than his neck surgery, he has been one of the most durable players in baseball. His fatness leads a lot of people to diminish him and his accomplishments.

11 of the next 13 starters we face are RHPs, so that bodes well matchup wise, for now, both are in this series, I bet he sits against Sale and is allowed to go against Rodon

Then we have a 4 game slate and if we face Kershaw (maybe Brett Anderson too, they don't have them figured out that far), you can bet he sits for that one, and then the White Sox again, he will probably sit against Sale again

I'm guessing 15 games starting, .225/.320/.480/3 HRs/7 RBIs/35% K rate

I would like to publicly thank C J Wilson for leaving in free agency so we could get a compensation pick for him since that pick turned out to be Gallo. At the risk of sounding too definitive I really think that has worked out well for us. So the Angels in one way or another have provided us with both Josh and Joey. Thanks Angles.

Good info Bennie ... bet when LAA comes to town its going to be mentioned in the media ... especially if Gallo faces CJ.

He's a lot more athletic than people half his size. You could tell back as far as 2013 there was something physically wrong with the guy. Glad he is all healed up.

Good luck with that in the post PEDs era. 30 homer seasons are going to be more rare for a while until guys get bigger and stronger naturally. Baseball goes in cycles.

I'm pretty sure newer & illegal practices will be discovered and adopted to bypass the whole going natural thing.

Wow I don't ever recall hearing the Gallo pick was the compensation pick for losing Ceej. That is awesome.

I'm capping my HR prediction for Gallo at 2. BA will be .235 and RBI will be 7.
