On the 11th anniversary of the murder of Steve McNair, I find it amazing that we never had a single thread on tHoop dedicated to this guy. How is that even possible?

I always had great respect for McNair. The guy was an outstanding QB with a strong competitive nature.

And what he did in college was amazing. Finishing 3rd in heisman voting, from alcorn state, a HBC.....never will happen again most likely.

Extremely underrated playmaker, no question. He would be a perennial All-Pro in today's game.

That half MVP was hilarious. The media really liked to bend the knee to any black QB back then.

McNair had more heart than McNabb, but McNabb got the softest treatment even though he was the one scared to run because he thought it made him black.

McNair just tried to get the job done. He deserved Andy Reid much more than McNabb did.

McNair would have murdered in a modern NFL offense.

Guy retired in 2007 and the site didn't exist until 2009. It's like wondering why there aren't any Jon Kitna or Rich Gannon threads.

My only issue with him, is that with running the ball he was an idiot with his body. Slide now only getting 7 yards and first down...nope!! Get 2 more yards and run in between Ray Lewis and Haloti Ngata and get my damn sternum cracked!

Go down man, and be ready to fight next play!

McNair was never tackled by Haloti Ngata. Ngata was drafted by Baltimore in 2006, the year McNair joined the Ravens. He spent his final two seasons as Haloti's teammate.

Seriously, man?!I could not remember specific names.I was referring to his style of sacrificing his body for an extra yard or 2

McNair was a badass for sure. I remember when the Oilers drafted him, thinking, "Alcorn State?? WTF?!" But yeah, he turned out to be the real deal, and then some.

Me too. I really liked him, i think he was a touch underrated at the time when he played. he just was a winner, he had that " it" quality.

I know, just saying. McNair actually started all 16 games for Baltimore in 06 and went 13-3.

McNair was a solid football player. Hard to believe it's been 11yrs since he passed.
