You guys recommend taking the over or under or just leaving it alone?

If I had to bet I would take over but staying away is probably smarter. The public likes overs in general and this one is a low one. As it has moved up it is safe to say the public is on the over.

I don't understand why you would feel good about betting a game @ 4, but not 5.
That is pretty much saying you feel like the Heat will win by exactly 5.

There are 2 factors that would make me want to bet it at 4 rather than 5.

The public being on the Spurs is great for the Heat. Vegas doesn't win money because the public is good at handicapping games.

Just because I will bet it at 4 and not at 5 does not mean I think the game is going to be won by exactly 5. It means that I think my probability of winning has increased enough to make it a profitable bet.

I agree with the going against the action part. Those beautiful casinos aren't built because people win.

And I get the 2nd part also. The thing is, if you are wagering straight, you are laying 11-10. The odds are already against you. It also depends on if you are wagering casually or seriously. If its serious, you have to take your risks when you have a very strong opinion. Example, I strongly felt that the Heat would win game 7 the other night by double digits. Therefore, If I was wagering, it wouldn't affect my mindset if the line was 7, 7.5, 8...etc...

Not if you felt the game was going to be double digits. Also 7 to 8 is a smaller difference than 4 to 5.

I expect Miami to be in control of a low scoring game which puts more of a premium on every point. So if this hits 4 here I come!

Miami games are a weird situation. Normally the public hammers favorites. But with Miami games they love betting whoever is on the other side of Miami. It is kind of nice. You can blindly bet the Heat at home to cover and make money.

Then why not just bet the under?
The Heat is a hard team to bet on when they are playing most teams because often they only played as hard as needed.
In games they had to win, or most prime time games, they were money in the bank.
As far as tomorrow, if I were playing the game, I would either take the Heat minus the points, or, if I liked the Spurs, I would take them outright with the money line.

I was trying to quote the part about the low scoring part, not what came across.

I've been bashing Bronny all year but he is delivering... It may help that most times the games is over either way by the end of the 3rd but I'll leave it alone... Bronny is going crazy, I hope the Spurs are ready... I root for 2 teams, the Lakers and whoever plays the Heat... GO SPURS!!! :sadbron:

Heat fans. If you're dealing with a Heat fan from somewhere other than Florida, there's a good chance you've encountered the worst kind of front-runner on earth, as well as the target demographic for Axe body spray. If you're dealing with a Heat fan from Miami, there's a decent chance that person has been party to some form of financial fraud in recent years, and is also the target demographic for Axe body spray. Neither group watched Heat games three years ago, and they all think that (a) LeBron James is better than Michael Jordan, and (b) Drake's new album is so swag. In general: A LOT of Heat fans are Justin Bieber, but only one of them is actually Justin Bieber.

Spurs fans. To the Spurs fan, if you don't like the Spurs, or if you think the Spurs are boring, you simply don't understand basketball. You must not really appreciate THE SPORT if you can't appreciate this team. Even Lakers fans aren't that obnoxious. Likewise, Tim Duncan is the most underappreciated player of his generation, says the Spurs fan, ignoring that every basketball fan on earth would call him the greatest power forward of all time. Finally, the Spurs fan knows deep down that his team is the only team really playing The Right Way. Everyone else? Just a bunch of me-firsters out there freelancing like it's an All-Star Game. If only they could all play like the Spurs …

Interesting question....would that include the Celtics? I ask because the Lakers and Heat don't have a natural rivalry like the Celtics and Lakers do.

i'll field that one. as a Lakers fan since '70 if you don't despise the Celtics then something is wrong with you on a congenital level. but here's the difference, the Celtics are a respectable organization. oh i know Heat fans will say they deserve it as well, but with all the shenanigans they've pulled(no need to list them all again) i disagree. 'sides, as i've already explained my hate for them doesn't come from being a Lakers fan(as i've explained to anyone with a brain once, and Turnip about a billion times), they offend me as simply a fan of the game. i DO find it funny that some folks here can't get it through their heads that one hasn't got a damn thing to do with another...

When you say you're going to win 7 or 8 championships after you just formed a team with a few buddy free agents in the same offseason - there is going to be a target on your back. The Heat opened their mouth then were surprised when the fans turned on them. They basically said to every other franchise "we're better than you for the next 10 years". They didn't think about the consequences.

Then the whole Kobe vs LeBron rivalry created by the media really pushes it onto another level, at least for Laker fans.

I think this series goes the distance with the Heat being the victors. As good as Lebron is currently playing, it is kind of scary if there is another level he can take it to with the added motivation of playing a team he lost to previously in the Finals.

I'm pissed off that the Kings game is on at the same time as the NBA Finals game tonight. I'll be using the PIP, but will certainly be more focused on the Kings!

LeBron on Duncan

Q. LeBron, to that end, as a student of NBA history, how do you think Tim will ultimately be regarded in this era as one of the players of this era? How do you think he'll be viewed?
LeBRON JAMES: Probably one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball. If I just look at the last 15 years, he's probably been the most consistent, most dominant player that we've had as far as 15 years all together. He's won four titles, multiple All-Stars, MVP, and so on and so on.
I think he doesn't get a lot of recognition because he's not flashy like a lot of guys are. He's not jumping over people and high-flying and doing the things that attracts people to the game. But I think true basketball, true IQ people, players know how great he is. What else can you say?
