I've rewatched the 2012 game a few times and you know what...Lane has a point

The Seahawks allowed Gronk a free release on each of his catches. Defense will need to be much more physical with Gronk to knock him off his spot and his timing with Brady.

I'm sure no team has ever tried to get physical with Gronk.

There are some timing routes that the Pats run, but a lot of what they do is "Read Option" routes. Good luck to whichever DB or safety tries to get physical with Gronkowski, he smashes linemen and linebackers regularly and he does it well.

Dude, people have tried to, teams have tried EVERY strategy vs both these teams, Spy Wilson, Blitz Brady, Chip Gronk, etc. etc. etc.

It's how effective can Seattle or NE do it, they are pretty good at most of those things,,,cause they are in the superbowl.

Gronk is awesome, no question about it. And I'm sure the Seahawks have plenty of respect for what he can do, despite whatever a backup CB might say leading up to the SB. However, Gronk is no more unstoppable than Peyton Manning was last year. I don't know if the Seattle D will shut him down, but if there's a D out there that can do it, it's this one.

Lane one on one with Gronk...absolutely. Gronk would demolish him.

But Gronk vs our team defense...I like our chances.

We'll see what strategies the defense comes with. I expect Gronk to get his but I also expect the defense to make some plays as well.

Lane is actually a pretty darned good CB. Him and Maxwell don't get much press because of the all-pro's they play with but they'd probably be the #1 Corners on lots of teams.

I have been signing his praises since he took over for Browner.

I felt that Max was going to be a cap casualty this off season as this is the last year of his rookie contract. We have Simon and Lane in reserve but I think Max is better than both with Lane>Simon.
In today's paper our GM said retaining Max is his #1 priority this off season. This is the 1st time he has said anything like that and maybe we have a shot.
If not, someone is going to get one damn fine CB that is solid in coverage, tackles with authority, causes fumbles, and is adept at the INT.

Oh stop that right now! Seattle has the most obnoxious fans and there should be no debate about that. In fact, we may be the worst fan base ever. As long as we are rated top 5 annoying fan base of all time, that just might have to do.

It really is remarkable what that the little Div III college QB has done in making the transition to WR in the NFL. He is one tough dude with great hands and moves.
