The Patriots are talking with LeVon bell. Don't ask me why or what the hell is going on unless Bell is trying to really crack the bank with the Jets. The last thing the patriots need, in my opinion, is a running back.

But making the Jets pay more is a friendly division rival thing to do.....

Ndamukong Suh's agent has supposedly called BB twice. Apparently Suh is more interested in a ring than money.
He's 32 and not the player he was 5 years ago but playing in the Patriots' rotational defense just might enlonghis career and get him the ring.

There are so many rumors right now, it seems like people are making up stories to make other peoples stories take a back seat. I just heard that DE/LB Za'Darius Smith's agent and the Patriots are talking. I imagine that the patriotsare talking to everyone and anyone to get some idea as to what people are looking for as far as compensation is concerned. Once they hear, the Patriots turn off their hearing aids.

He would never sign with the Patriots. He has made it very obvious that his #1 priority is the money. The money equals respect in his opinion and well the Pats are not exactly known for overpaying for a player.

Boston Sports Tonigtis reporting that the Giants have contacted the patriots about interest in OBJ. He's expensive, but could give Brady that serious downfield threat who can turn the threat into serious damge.

The Patriots and Cardinals continue to get a few teams nervous. Seems that there are a few teams interested but don't have thedraft picks to deal.

These two deals could potentially cost the Patriots a second and a third round pick.

Also reported is that both Philip Dorsett's agent and Chriis Hogans agents have been talking with the Patriots. At this point in time, the only WR that seems to be getting a ton of attention is Golden Tate.

I'm going to bed........text me if anything significant happens.

Supposedly, Dontae Hightower and Devin McCourty have spoken with BB about possibly bringing back Jamie Collins. It's highly unlikely because the Patriots have Hightower, E. Roberts, C. Van Noy, J. Bentlry, C. Sam, D. Wise and D. Rivers to fill the LB/Edge positions and BB isn't going to put up with any BS. Collins was an outstanding player for the Patriots and led the Browns in tackles, but has an authority problem and BB doesn't need to deal with any of it. Then again, maybe being dumped twice might strike a note in Collins' brain.

I just remember Super Bowl 49, play before "THE interception". Collins was blown off the play and Hightower fought through to save the game.

Some guys look good, others make plays when it matters.

Some guys grow up - some don't. How much would it cost to find out if he can / has matured?

Josh Rosen has started to perk interest around the league. Now the Cardinals want a first round pick and the Patriots deal might be dead. Unless the Cards are trying get an idiot to overpay. Rumor was that the patriots were going to give up their 3rd round pick and possibly a 7th compensatory. Cards might be trying to get the Pats to give up their 2nd ronderor the Bears. I wouldn't do it.

NFL Rumors: Patriots Hosting D-Lineman Allen Bailey On Free-Agent Visit
by Doug Kyed on Thu, Mar 14, 2019 at 8:47AM

As usual, the New England Patriots have had a slow start to free agency. Their activity could start to ramp up over the next few days, however.

The Patriots are hosting free-agent defensive lineman Allen Bailey on a visit Thursday, a source told ProFootballTalk.

Bailey, a 2011 third-round pick out of Miami, has spent his entire career with the Kansas City Chiefs. The eight-year NFL veteran is a hybrid defensive end/defensive tackle at 6-foot-3, 288 pounds.

In 102 career games, Bailey, 29, has 207 tackles, 19.5 sacks, 34 tackles for loss, 33 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. In 2018, Bailey had 38 tackles, six sacks, 10 quarterback hits and five tackles for loss. He had 34 total pressures in 2018, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Patriots currently only have three defensive tackles on their 90-man roster, Lawrence Guy, Adam Butler and Frank Herron. Malcom Brown and Danny Shelton are still available as unrestricted free agents.

Ryan Hannable WEEI

It’s been three full days of the legal tampering period and official start of free agency and the Patriots haven’t exactly done much.

They have made five moves, all of which have been bringing back familiar role players — Phillip Dorsett, Matthew Slater, Brandon Bolden, Jason McCourty and John Simon. There’s nothing wrong with making these moves, as they go a long way during the year, but they have taken up a good chunk of the team’s cap space.

Going into Wednesday, the team had roughly $12-13 million in cap space and that doesn’t figure the Dorsett, Bolden, McCourty and Simon deals. While they won’t be huge cap hits, they will add up and leave the Patriots in a tough spot when it comes to adding other players at the moment, especially bigger names. It’s hard to imagine they have any room to play with following Wednesday’s moves and room has to be created at the very least to sign the 2019 draft class.

Fortunately, there are a few easy ways to free up some cap space.

For starters, Tom Brady still hasn’t signed a contract extension with his deal set to expire at the end of the this season. This has been a conversation since even before the Super Bowl and by all accounts is something that will get done. After all, he’s taking up $27 million in cap space. Extending him will allow the team to spread out his $27 million cap hit and could free up potentially around $5 million.

This seems like a lock to happen, and happen soon.

Then, there are players who could potentially be released to free up more space. Adrian Clayborn comes to mind first, as if he were to be released the Patriots would save around $4 million against the cap and his production from last year doesn’t seem to be worth his nearly $6 million cap hit this year.

Smaller releases could also be considered like Elandon Roberts (roughly $2 million in cap savings), Brian Hoyer ($1.5 million in cap savings) and Brandon King (just over $1 million in cap savings).

Lastly, some players could re-do their contracts in order to count less against the cap, which happens a good amount in today’s NFL. Players with high cap hits could be looked to first, but it may be easier said than done. Dont’a Hightower, who has a cap hit of $10 million, will not be willing to take less, according to NESN’s Doug Kyed from the combine. Kyed also added Wednesday Devin McCourty, who has a cap hit of $13.4 million, hasn’t been approached regarding taking less money.

Rob Gronkowski's situation also should be factored in as well, as his cap hit of close to $12 million has the potential to be lowered, or even taken off the books.

This isn’t to say moves cannot be made over the next few days until any of the above happen. The organization can put off making things official, so the lack of cap space shouldn’t prohibit any moves from being made, it’s just something that has to be on its minds.

The most glaring need on the roster is still wide receiver, as even with Dorsett being brought back, a veteran or two are still needed. In addition, a swing tackle, and edge rusher are also needs that should be addressed before the start of the draft, so it isn’t like the team can call it an offseason after Thursday and just prepare for the draft.

So, while the Patriots will still be active in searching for players to add to the roster via free agency, they need to start being active in freeing up some cap space so these players can actually be added.

Tate is the obvious fit but I'd imagine his age and price tag would make it unlikely.

Tyrell Williams would be the guy I'd go after over Funchess if I wanted a bigger bodied guy. I'd probably look at Chris Conley before Funchess, too.

Randall Cobb would be a good fit but his injury history does not inspire confidence. Would probably have to be a prove it deal to be worth it for the Pats.

Maurice Harris has shown flashes of being a really effective slot receiver, but he will be RFA and I would only take a run at him if he's tendered at the low level (no pick compensation).

Rashard Higgins is another interesting RFA, but again I'd only want to get involved at the low level (5th).

Some other veteran depth guys to consider - Ryan Grant, John Brown, Aldrick Robinson, Bruce Ellington.

Younger guys who've never established themselves that might be worth kicking the tires on to see if McD and Brady can unlock something - Kevin White, TJ Jones, Leonte Caroo

But, yeah, there isn't anybody there that profiles as a legit #2 or potential #1/1A besides Tate wth Thomas hurt and Fitz re-signed by AZ.

As the Patriots mine for depth at WR, they are hosting both Bruce Ellington and Maurice Harris today, per source. Ellington had 23 catches in 4 games for the Lions last season, while Harris had 28 for the Redskins.

Hur...BB must be reading my posts lol

Surprised Washington didn't tender Harris considering they knew they were going to lose Crowder

Heard this yestedayand again this morning.....................

Patriots and Bengals are talking. Nothing is 100% for sure but the "GUESS" is that AJ Green is the main subject of a possible trade to the Patriots. He's 30 years old and is in the final year of his contract. Teaming up with TB12 for one year and possibly wiinning a ring would make his fonal contract a monster. I have to assume that it might take the Bears second round pick to move him, maybe more.

IMO, Green would be a perfect big, downfield target that Brady has soreltmissed since Randy Moss left.

Patriots only have $5.5M in cap space now, so some things would have to be done, like redoing Tom Brady's contract or Devin McCourty's contract or both.
