Report: Pete Carroll, John Schneider were in plane waiting for Peyton Manning | Seattle Seahawks & NFL News - seattlepi.com

Guess they didn't do enough. I'd be curious though as how training camp would've gone if we had gotten Manning. Manning and Wilson would've given the team tremendous, and I mean tremendous leadership. I still think Pete Carroll would've given the starting job to Russell Wilson even if we had signed Manning. You know how PC loves competition. I think Wilson could've won the starting job under these circumstances.

What do ya'll think?

There is no way they sign him with any possibility he loses the job.

Just as a sign of age:

Are you happy with the quarterback situation in Seattle?

Yes. Matt Flynn seems ready and could be huge for the Seahawks.
Sure. There's now competition between Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson.
Meh. We'll see how good Matt Flynn really is.
Not really. Matt Flynn is too much of an inexperienced wild card.
No way! Peyton Manning or bust!

They probably dont take a QB in the 3rd if they sign Manning.

I prefer the way it worked out.

And for those who think I'm a dick for suggesting Wilson could've beaten Manning, well, People expected Flynn to beat Wilson. that's all I'll say.

There's a bit of a difference between Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn in terms of quality. The only thing that would have kept Manning on the bench behind Wilson (assuming we would have even drafted Wilson with Manning on the roster) was complications from his neck surgeries and if that were an issue at all, we probably wouldn't have signed him in the first place.

I was all for the signing of Manning, but I'm Glad he chose Denver. Now we have a franchise quarterback for 8 to 10 years instead of just a couple of years and have to restart the process over.

Sure we were interesting in Manning. Multiple teams were, especially the Niners. Remember Harblah caught lying to the press about it? Alex Smith is my QB. Blah-blah-blah.

Denver did make the most sense for P Manning. AFC West provides him an easy path to the playoffs, plus the mile high advantage for opponents.

Manning probably would a started just because he's Manning and he has a history of consistency... But keep in mind he's not the same guy he was back in the day... Don't count Wilson out and what he brings...

Manning did have almost 4700 yds passing which would be his second highest total through a season. Not bad for a 16 yr vet with neck surgery. With that being said, I'm glad he's in Denver and Russ Wilson is on our side.

Wilson wouldn't have got a single first team snap with Peyton in Seattle.

He should have went to San fransisco. They would have went 19-0 and matched it this year.

Wrong.... Pete is about competition and he would a given Russell his chance... Not saying he would a started over Manning because he was a rookie last year and Manning of course is a proven long time vet.. BUT Wilson would a got some first team snaps and he would a pushed Manning to the brink because of what Wilson brings... You underestimate the kid...

He did well... But his arm strength is down and he drops back like he has led shoes... He is not moving well at all... The man is great though because even at this point in his career he's still a solid guy that can lead a team...
