Ortiz?

No.

Ortiz was also "always expected to be very good" by the Twins...injuries held them back...and the "twins lost patience" and DFA'd him...

Facts...it's what's for breakfast.

I know he couldn't beat out Ron Coomer for a job 10 minutes before becoming the most feared hitter on the planet

Enjoy your breakfast

mariano rivera lost his starting job to Scott Kamieniecki and became a specialist, a closer

ortiz lost his job at 1B to ron coomer or man sandwich and became a specialist

a DH

argue it

Down

I don't wanna continue to argue

But Jeter in what you see as a "compiling" season had virtually the same OBP as Pedroia has averaged in his career

And we know how you feel about Dusty

My god...I didn't call it a "compiling season" you asshat...

I said his HOF resume is one based on being good enough, long enough...to compile his way to benchmarks...this is not a fucking insult you sensitive little bitch....

The alan trammell comp was to illustrate the player he'd be viewed as today, had he not been able to sustain his level of play for as long as he did. he was able to...I said one is HOF worthy...one is not...but somewhere in your yankee fan sensibilities...you're concluding I'm saying their like the same exact player...

Thus my frustrations...

---

both guys failed at full time positions and lost jobs to lesser players (looking back)

both guys became essentially, part time players and flourished...ones the best closer ever, one arguably the best DH ever

both were positions that at one time didnt exist, or existed in a different fashion (i.e closer role changing and the evolution of the DH to a power hitter)
you never once call mo a guy who "lost his job to kamienicki" yet you always refer to ortiz as a guy who "lost a job to coomer"

i dont get it

None of that makes a lick of sense

Let me help

Derek Jeter never had one season in his career as bad as Trammels last 6

When you perform well above the standard of your position every year of your career till 38 years old, all you have "compiled" is greatness

And history and his place in it will agree with me, and dis-agree with you

But get angry

Wow

Rock, realizing Mariano had a reportoire more suited to be a closer

Is not remotely close to David Ortiz not being able to beat out Ron Coomer for a job cause Coomer was a better hitter, and than juicing and becoming a hitting God

He juiced, it's ok, most of them do

Mariano lost his job as starter and became possibly the most dominant player at his position ever

Ortiz becomes a DH because he can only do half the job of a major league baseball player

Ortiz was mostly a DH the last 2 years for the Twins...and they still dumped him off..
