He says the deal is done but the rangers had to give up much more than their first offer from a couple of weeks ago. He said he thinks it 2 pitching prospects and olt, one of the prospects being neil ramirez. Fuck me I hope we dont give too much

I'm with you. I don't see Garza being the missing piece to get us into the playoffs and then deep into the post season. He is a great pitcher, but he alone isn't going to help us enough.

Of course if we get this done early enough we can then go out and look for a bat.

Holy crap. Its pretty crazy how that trade rumors site is on this. You really dont even need anyone close because everything ive been saying they immediately say lol. Actually in this case they beat me to it.

This will be a win for me if we resign garza. But we never can resign pitchers, so I'm hesitant to say we'll get him back

I checked the rumors site, and it looks like its gonna be what I suspected. The only difference between that site and what I heard is that its done....

but 2 pitching prospects (neil ramirez and cj edwards) and olt. Not really worried about losing edwards. He was having a great year but his ceiling isnt very high. Ramirez hurts a little though

If that many prospects are being discussed JD may pull a rabbit out of a hat and have a bat coming too.

You can corroborate what site says. We never know if that's crap or not.

I see Olt being included. Which is weird because JD didn't include him in the deal for Grenkie.

Would anyone pay this Price for Peavy? I don't think he's that much better than Garza or probably not at all.

Peavy is not better than garza. Not even close.

lonestarball fans think that getting Peavy would be way better upside. And that getting Garza is Horrible cause he has a career FIP of 4 even though his ERA has never been over 4 LOL

I also thought about Byrd. I don't see Soriano being part of the deal if there are that many prospects, unless Cubs are paying a huge part of his remaining salary.

2 things.

1) Peavy can't stay healthy. He's also a home run machine now as well. No thanks.

2) When a guy has spent his entire career outperforming his peripherals, it might be time to move on from them. With our defense garza should be eem better.

I just noticed over Garza's last 3 years his K/9 has gone from 6.5 to 8, 8.5 each year and his xfip has been near the mid 3s

Yeah I honestly think Garza has Been a #2 pitcher last 3 years. That's when I don't use fip and xfip is when he's outperfomed his whole career

Exactly. His peripherals have improved. Now part of that can be attributed to pitching in the NL, but my point is those guys at lonestar ball sometimes cannot see the forest for the trees.

I m okay with losing Olt as he is the same shape as Profar and I am not completely sold on Neil Ramirez. CJ was pitching well but we seem to have some good prospects below AA. And adding Garza just gives a much better rotation than what we have been throwing out there. The Tribune is reporting the trade is close as well and that he is 5-0 with a 1.24 era in his last 6 starts. I knew he has been pitching great lately but did not realize it was good.

Trade complete, Garza is a Ranger. Waiting on it to become official and seeing who is involved. Rumor was Soriano was attached.
