I wouldnt really say Martin has been the BETTER choice, they have had pretty similar seasons so far. Martin has certainly been the cheaper option, but if we had Bourn, then Martin could have been included in a big trade.

Martin has had at least as good of a season, costs much less, and didn't cost us any draft picks.

As I understood it, Cliff Lee enjoyed playing in Texas. However, both he and his wife both really liked living in Philly. Also, their daughter(?) is/was very sick and sees a pediatrician in Philly with whom the family has a very good relationship. The physician part apparently played a key role in his decision.

That was all I could think about last night on the way home. The way JD has a habit of calling and getting teams interested in our young guys for the person they want to sell, and turning it into talks about other guys. We saw it when Adams came here and I think we saw it when Dempster and Soto came here. I don't remember hearing much about Soto before the trade came down.

So that had me wondering if JD is dangling some bigger names out there and pulling a bait and swtich..."Oh you like Player A, that's a bit high for Garza but tell me about Travis Wood".

I don't have time to read around, relying on you guys for my updates. What names? I heard Edwards and Olt this morning. Olt is nice but he is blocked for at least two years and we are already trying to find room for Profar. Edwards looks very nice, but figure he is two years away at least.

Edit: Just saw Neil Ramirez is also being talked about. Now it is getting a bit pricey if all three are included for 3 months. It would delay getting Garza here, but I hope that we are allowed to be talking to him right now about a possible extension. If they give up those three and announce a trade with extension, then I feel a bit better about it.

I'm not really up on the prospects, but I've seen mentioned the DMN that Perez won't be included in a Garza deal, which I find encouraging. Wood would be awesome, but I really doubt that the Cubs would deal him. Lee still tops my wish list.

He says the deal is done but the rangers had to give up much more than their first offer from a couple of weeks ago. He said he thinks it 2 pitching prospects and olt, one of the prospects being neil ramirez. Fuck me I hope we dont give too much

I'm kind of the same way, but getting better. If you are familiar with the Scot Lucas emails about the Rangers farm each day, WindingMyWatch started posting them here for everyone to read and then sign up for the emails if you like. He's out of town so I've been covering but just updated the last weeks worth. It is a sticky thread near the top if you want to surf through it. After a week I move them to an archive thread, so you can use the search function on that thread if you are looking for info about a youngster in the system.
