we have great international scouting so if they think the guy is worth the contract, then I put might trust in that.....plus it would only cost money and not prospects to add pitching depth

True on not costing us prospects.
With ARoid on the verge of suspension(along with Nelly) I wouldn't be opposed to a Phil Hughes for Olt deal. I know Hughes is having a bad year, but if we had proposed this trade a year ago, the Yankees would have laughed in our face. Much like Jon Lester had a nice bounce back from a down year, Hughes will do the same, and a change in scenery could jump start it
Cliff Lee has too many millions left on his contract for the thrift minded Rangers to take another flyer. Price is the guy to go after, even if it costs us Profar, Olt and a pitching prospect.
Only the Ranger front office thought Colby Lewis would be back by now and with some velocity. Neither is happening. He will be giving up HR's at an alarming rate if he returns any time soon. His fastball has NOTHING on it. No movement, no heat. It's batting practice quality. Not a good idea.
Not excited about colby at all. Didn't think he was ever anything special minus one season anyway. This international pitcher looks enticing. Its just so hard for us to sign FA pitchers that signing international pitchers might be the best way to find long term talent on the mound.
Have to remember, alot of what is being "said" might be fabricated by the media. Correction... IS fabricated by the media. JD & company like to work in the shadows.
Is there interest there? Better be - given the state of the rotation. Are they really the "front runners" though? Remains to be seen.
I'm kinda on the fence on acquiring Garza. I know the starting rotation needs help - badly - but at what cost? Is he an upgrade over 4/5th's of the current rotation? Duh...
But does that warrant an overpay for the "best available" pitcher on the market...when there are glaring holes elsewhere to fill? Idk...
He's risky.
As for Colby, he's an innings eater and a bulldog. He's a solid #3 when healthy. But he's a beast in the post season. The guy just knows how to win on the big stage.

I think it is too early to make a judgement on Colby. Even during the season he would have a 2-3 game stretch where it looked HR Derby. But the majority of the time he is tough. He is a pitcher not a thrower. And when you see him top out at 89-90 and is getting guys out you come to realize that. And his curve is excellent.

“Jon Daniels says he’s looking to upgrade the roster and “reward the club and help these guys for the way they’ve played.”"
You're probably right might be looking at something bigger we will see.
