Of course it's all unofficial, but if you follow top analyst on twitter from all the baseball teams, you can get pretty accurate news if it all stays consistent. Everything I'm seeing is pretty consistent so far. I shouldn't have said "he's a ranger" should have said 95% to give myself some room here. From what I keep seeing it does not include Jackson, but Neil Remirez, CJ Edwards and possibly Olt.

Trade complete, Garza is a Ranger. Waiting on it to become official and seeing who is involved. Rumor was Soriano was attached.

Where did you hear this cause I have seen nothing about complete and nothing about Soriano?

I'd swap Jackson for Edwards and I'm content with this trade a bit of an overpay but I'm not going to go crazy over it

Really like/liked Edwards but oh well

if this trade is Olt, Edwards, and Ramirez for just Garza then we just got raped.....hopefully we are getting something else back with Garza.

or he has agreed to a contract extension because that is way too much for a 2-month rental

I'll reserve judgement until I see the official trade

i dont care, ill judge now, isnt that why we are on these forums anyway?......it will be a crappy trade for us if Olt, Edwards, and Ramirez are sent for just Garza.....there is my judgement

Seems like the Rangers are bigger on Jackson than Edwards. Edwards is more developed but I think they see Jackson with the most potential. Sherholtz is being mentioned some too, I've always considered him more of a 4th OF.

If Ramirez is the key piece then Olt wasn't involved. Where are you getting your info?

Bowden was just on ESPN and stated it. Said he doesnt if Olt is involved or not.... but knows that Ramirez is the "key piece".

Which I found odd.

Thats fair judgment, but I am going to be optimistic and assume JD is not that stupid and has a verbal commitment from Garza, or Garza has an asking price the rangers are willing to match.

well "key piece" could mean a couple different things....the way I see it, it could mean the addition of Ramirez could be the deciding factor.

but even so, that doesnt make a lot of sense....Garza is probably going to command at least $15 mil/year on a 5 or 6 year contract....wouldnt they have rather over spent for Greinke last offseason or Lee the season before instead of meeting a contract agreement with Garza? To me, Garza is just not a difference maker....would have rather waited til the offseason and tried to pry Price from the Rays if this is the case.

From what I heard the Cubs wanted Luke Jackson and Perez and JD refused. Also, in the past I was tired of the Rangers holding on to prospects as we would lose and play for next season. When the Cliff Lee deal went down there was a lot of people upset that we gave up Smoak and Blevin for a rental. But it was the first time I really felt like the Rangers were saying we are trying to win today and we will worry about tomorrow when it comes. I like that philosophy. And we do not seem to bankrupt our system but yet are one of the top teams the last few years and will be for years to come as we will replenish what we lose.

I saw that, I wonder if someone swooped in and offered a crazy package? Can't be the Dodgers, they don't even have a farm system left lol, Cards wouldn't give up a bigger package, that goes against their entire philosophy so I am confused. I guess the Cubs think JD is stupid, because that trade package is not happening.

The cubs did say they would give teams a window to negotiate an extension, I hope thats what the delay has been. I also expect the cubs to pay all but a million dollars of sorianos deal so you get a left fielder that can play in the heat who is on fire now. He can carry a team for weeks, but when the playoff start and its 35 on the west coast, he might as well be kept in a steamer and DH.

I just cant see why Olt would be included. We wanted him last year and couldnt get him, now he is hitting .200 and we have Bryant. You might be getting Vitters or Christian Villanueva back as well if Olt is included. I cant see why the cubs want anything other than pitchers with our current prospects either outfielders or 3B who might end up in the outfield.

I'm hearing Edwards is only projected to be a back end of rotation starter and rameriz is only gonna be a bullpen guy so it's not really a high price if you ask me...

no neither of those are too high, hell I could deal with Jackson being delt, but definitely not Perez.

I wouldn't trust anything Bowden says. He's an idiot.
