Why do you consider him so risky?

Not necessarily "so risky", just riskier than Garza. One, he's never really had as much success as Garza has had and, two, unlike Garza, he's never pitched in the AL.

I'm fine with getting garza by all means. I'm just tossing around ideas. I think we need a righty more anyway

I am very wary of NL pitchers who've never pitched in the AL. You can almost guarantee they'll regress immediately. Especially a cubs pitcher who's never pitched in the AL.

Righty or lefty wouldn't matter to me. Lefties play a little better at rbia though because they help keep lefty power bats at bay.

Did chris sale not start the all star game last year? Serious question. He was either the first or the second but i really did forget. Either way, garza was never that good in a given year. He's the safer option, but chris sale right now is the better pitcher.

What exactly is it about samardzjia that impresses you so much? Is it his 3.19 BB/9, or his 4.06 ERA which will immediately increase in the AL?

The "better pitcher" is an understatement lol. But Garza will give you a 3.50-3.90 ERA and im fine with that

No. Remeber Justin Verlander threw batting practice and then blew it off. The best part was he fucked his own team out of hfa in the WS.

We don't need an ace. We need a really good #3 and garza is perfect for that.

K/9, FIP, xFIP. I just like his stuff. He was having a great year until he had 1 really bad start. The went from 2.96 ERA to 4.06 ERA. Giving up 9 and 5 runs twice didn't help.

Oh really?

People at Lonestarball think Yu is a Ace and one of the best in baseball. Although they put to much emphasis on FIP, xFIP and WAR cause that's not the reality of baseball. It wont even matter if a guy has a FIP of 2.58 if his ERA is 4.52 I rather have the guy that's performing 2.58 ERA with a 4.52 FIP

Make up your mind.

It wouldn't make sense if profar and Olt have spots on this team but they don't. Plus this package is for rios and sale

No way I'm giving up those guys for a slightly above average OF and an elbow surgery waiting to happen.

You mean a solid outfielder and a #1 starter with a elbow surgery waiting to happen

Solid = slightly above average = not great

I don't care if he's a #1 right now, he's a gigantic risk.
