I don't know why they wouldn't try to get a lot for him. Every other team in the league I'd say he is untouchable. But I think the White Sox might be in worse shape than any team in the league. At least Houston has young guys and young guys that are getting some playing time. Miami same thing, they have some young talent. But the White Sox have nothing going for them in any way at all. They have a terrible farm system and their players on the active roster are mostly old or bad contracts, no one has value expect Sale to bring back a lot of young talent. Usually you build around a guy like Sale, but the White Sox have too much to build.
Maybe you are right, but it seems to me that a team in rebuilding mode might want to hold onto a young, promising piece that is not clearly replaceable. Not saying that Sale is a young, left-handed Kinf Felix, but holding onto Sale might be analogous to the M's having held onto Hernandez the past few years, while letting a guy like Cliff Lee get away.
