Yeah I can see that. Nothing wrong with thinking differently though. I just believe a hitters main goal is to not make an out and OBP is a great # to look at when trying to achieve that goal.
I do want to compete in 2022 because I think 2023 is the year we start to really blossom. I would like to get the new guys in during the first transition year so that going into 2023 the team chemistry is set into place.

Maybe we can get a legit starting catcher who can catch 125-130 games and strategize letting Pozo be DH vs lefties and catch the other 32-37 games also using days off as rest for the starter

Maybe he can be Napoli-like. Napoli caught 60 and 70 games in 2011 and 2012. He also saw some time at 1B and DH.

well i'm looking at him for only a couple of years anyway while our outfield prospects firm up and then if they’re ready trade him

I think our system is capable of producing high quality pitchers who could fit into positions 2 through 5 in the rotation of a championship caliber team. Producing an ace is certainly not a given though. Although, if Leiter became an ace I certainly would not be shocked.

The safest way to acquire an ace would be to make a Cliff Lee type trade when we see the rest of the team is ready to make a deep run. That would be a mid-season type acquisition for what would appear to be the final piece of the puzzle.

If they decide to go after a free agent or make a major trade for a budding ace on another team, then that's fine. If it was left up to me, I would spend my money on hitters and use some prospects down the road to trade for an ace.

We had no business trading away prospects between 2012 and now. In 2010 it made perfect sense. Timing is everything.

Besides, look how little the Phillies gave up for Gibson and Crouse.
